    Well, I feel once again that the Spurs-Lakers series is the actual NBA Finals.

    So with this in mind, as a Houston Rockets fan, which is the worst possibility, Karl the Flopper Malone gets a ring, or the Spurs overtake the Rockets as the Texas leader in NBA Championships?

    no brainer...

    the dirtiest player in the game cant piggy back for a ring...

    like most, the spurs and fakers are my 2 most hated teams, but if i have to pick my poison, its the spurs!!!

    this is an EXTREMELY hard question and one i have been wrestling with for a while. i think i'm leaning towards not wanting malone to have the ring. we'll have a chance to catch up in rings one day, we'll never be able to take back malone's ring so i think i have to root for the spurs coming up. plus, i've just hated the lakers more these last 5 years and it'll be hard to break those feelings.

    the other problem is i have a spurs fan for a friend and it would be nice to see them lose to piss him off.


    man, this situation sucks. at least they're meeting in the second round so there's at least one more chance for them to lose after this, even if it's not a good chance.

    if they make it to the finals, i think i may actually root for whichever team it is just to keep the b**** slappings of the east rolling in and to keep them from talking any trash if they do win.

    The Spurs will beat the Lakers. Karla will retire ringless.

    The Spurs will not win the championship this year. They'll get a major injury in the last game of the Lakers series.

    I don't hate the Spurs anymore, now that Dream has retired, and the team is new.

    I actually like the Spurs, especially Ginobli...they play with passion & Intelligence.

    They will repeat as champions and deservedly so.

    the spurs are an awesome team.

    malone is not awesome. the lakers are not awesome. they are a collection of sellouts who deserve to be called fakers and yes they are sellouts ( i know they took less money ) but they sold out to phil, kobe & snaq.

    I'm with you, I actually like SA as a team. What I don't like about them is their fans. If Laker fans are the epitome of arrogance, Spurs fans are the epitome of stupidity.

    No brainer. We can always catchup with the Spurs later. But if Malone gets a ring, there's no way we can take it away from him. Go Spurs.

    I never understood the hatred for the Spurs. To me, they are fellow Texans and I wish them all the luck in the world. If a Houston team can't win it all, at least it should be a Texan team. I think some people feel a rivalry catalyzed by trash-talking San Antonio friends. Maybe it is just that I don't have any friends who are Spurs fans. Or, it could be that the Spurs never really did the Rockets any damage and it was the Rockets who knocked the Spurs out of contention. It reminds me of the U of Chicago's rivalry with Northwestern: both local, with my school hating Northwestern's pompous ass, and Northwestern not really noticing and thinking of U of C as its sister-school to the south. Except now, I'm in Northwestern's spot: the Spurs fans still resent the Rockets for their elimination, but the Rockets fans don't really need to take notice.

    So, c'mon little brother, beat those Lakers!

    I don't understand the Spurs hate on this board. Sure they have stupid fans, but so does every team (scan this message board for occasional examples of some of our own fans that are exactly shining little lights of brilliance :p ).

    On the other hand, I do understand the hatred of Karla Malone. The guy is a punk and an idiot all rolled into one arrogant steroid-filled package.

    Furthermore, I'm not a fan of Gary Payton either, and really frown on "star" players running to a superior team at the end of their careers to ride the coattails of better players to a ring (see also: Karla). I wasn't a fan of CB4 either.

    Neither, we don't need Karla with a ring, and we don't need the spurs with scoreboard over the Rockets. I hate the spurs like I hate the cowboys.
