I am going with 2K3 but I heard Live is gonna be pretty good. I can't wait to play as Yao Ming and Jay Williams.

EA sports fell off the face of the planet with the release of NBA2k a couple of years back. For some goddamned reason those overrated programmers at EA never fixed horrendous problems (rebounding, insane shooting accuracy, inept AI) but a bunch of ragamuffins (Segasports) surpassed 'em.

The previews of this year's edition of NBA Live at ign.com are positive, but i'll withhold judgment until further notice and stick to my goal of buying a brand new 2k3.

What i usually do is create a draft of the all-timers (and create some that aren't already included) and decide which hall-o-famer goes where.

I probably will create a G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all time) team, delete a suck-ass team and insert the GOAT in its place, play the season. Lately i have been using a name my old roomate used back in the days of fantasy football: Long Beach PimpDaDDieZ.

    :D

I heard reports that the great Marv Alberts will be providing play by play for Live'03. I'm buying it for that reason alone. Can you imagine, "Francis for threeee.........YES!!!!!"

Another question. Say you don't have PS2 or the XBox and you want to get one of the consoles soley to play NB2K3. Which one do you get?

Well, unless I'm missing something, the X-Box is the obvious choice. But I don't play JUST sports and action games, so I'll stick with my PS2.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards NBA 2K3. I am going to rent both and decide which is better. I will then buy the one I want, unless both really suck, or something like that. I learned my lesson because last year I just went ahead and bought NBA Live 2002. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT WAS THAT BAD! Well, at least it had Steve on the cover.

Don't forget the GameCube, it's cheaper and I think it has the best feeling controller of the systems. The graphics should be about the same on all the consoles.

As far as which game I'd get, definately NBA2K3. The last NBA Live game I bought sucked horribly adn the 2K series has been great.

I plan on getting NBA 2K3 but am worried that Yao Ming might not be in the game. Can they put him in the game even if he is not signed (assuming he does not sign before the game is released on 10/8). I know the game will have the Create a Player feature but I would really love if he was already in the game because then his likeness will be so much better.

Anyone have any idea if he will be included?

I really wish they would have released the game in early November after the regular season has started so all the teams rosters will have been fully set for the season for the game. There is bound to be a decent amount of player movement in the preseaon.

If you an XBox and going to get XBox Live, NBA 2K3 is the choice. According to IGN.Com article on what is going to be downloadable with XBox Live:

    Thats too damn cool.

What about NBA Inside Drive 2k3? I have the first one(2k2) and it seems pretty good. But, I don't get into it anywhere close to some of you with your fantasy drafts, trades, and whatever else. I just play the freaking game as is. Since MS makes this one, I'm sure it will be on xbox live. I'm sure there must be something wrong with the Inside Drive ones because people only tend to compare the other two and leave this one out. It helps that I got my Inside Drive copy for $10 at the MS ecompany store or I probably would have never bought a NBA game. So,what makes Inside Drive inferior to these other two?

I think ill rent them 1st..live was terrible last year absoluely pathetic. same w/ triple play.. ea only makes good football games now in days. i might pass on both if they both suck. NBA2K2 was bad ass on dreamcast. so im leaning towards that but we will see

Live is horrible. No defense at all. All you do on offense, is speedburst and dribble around in circles, until you get a dunk or layup.

NBA 2k actually has defense. The only beef if I have with the NBA 2k series is that it is hard to block shots, and the CPU makes way too many jumpers with a hand in their face.

Live 2003 all the way. Appears that I'm the only one who thinks that, though. The 2K series fails to impress me.

ID was OK. I look at ID being Fever is to football when being compared to NFL games. Inside Drive is more of a simcade game (Sim/Arcade, a little bit of both). I liked ID but NBA 2K3 is THE game to get. As for the XBox Live capabilities, it will have the same features I stated above as NBA 2K3 will.
