So there's been a lot of talk about bringing back guys like Cat, Cassell, Horry, etc. So I was wondering which former Rocket you guys wanted back the most. Here are the guys I could come up with (that the Rockets have a chance at getting)

Tierre Brown - Just because I wanted to know if tierre_brown still posted.

Sam Cassell - Looks like he's probably worn out his welcome with yet another team. I've always had the feeling that Sam's been bitter at the organization for trading him for Chuck (and I sort of think he holds some animosity towards Charles for that). That said, he'd be an upgrade offensively over the PGs we currently have, and he'd bring a lot of heart to the team.

Kelvin Cato - I don't think there's any question that we were better as a team defensively with Cato as our PF, and I think he certainly helped out Yao as well. With new management coming in in Orlando, we may be able to do business with the Magic. Cato might not be a very good starting option because of his lack of offense, but he'd make a fine backup, and IMO, he'd be no worse than Deke (and I love Deke).

Mario Elie (As an Assistant Coach) - Just 'cause. How cool would it be?

Eddie Griffin - I remember an argument between SamFisher and a few other posters (including myself) over whether or not the Rockets should give Eddie another chance. At the time, I thought that the Rockets should definitely try to bring him back. But after some further thought, I think I'm with Sam... I just don't believe Eddie's really gonna be that good, or cash in on his full potential.

Othella Harrington - Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who appreciated Othella. If we trade Juwan, he'd be a fine backup PF, I think.

Robert Horry - If nothing else, he knows how to make an entry pass into the post.

Calvin Murphy (As an Analyst) - It just didn't seem right last year. And I liked Van. Any new news regarding Calvin's future with the organization?

Cuttino Mobley - Absense makes the heart grow fonder. I've ALWAYS liked Cat, and I really missed his heart and his shooting and his defense and even his boneheaded plays this past season. Not only is Cat the former Rocket I want back the most, he's probably the player I want the Rockets to bring in this offseason the most... I'm starting to sour on SAR.

James Posey - An athletic swingman who plays great D, shoots well from the perimeter, and runs the floor... And we could have had him locked up. Yes, I did think that the additions of Piatkowski/Griffin would make up for losing JP. I was wrong (though JJ DID make up for it his first season here).

Funny how much love for Cuttino is present here now that he is gone.

    :D

As of right now, Cat would help the team out the most by far. It gives us a legitimate 3rd scoring option behind Yao/TMac (or is it TMac/Yao?), and he has shown he is willing to change his style of play for the good of the team.

I would also love to have Calvin back in the broadcast booth and Mario Elie on the bench.

The other players would all be welcome to come back, but they are, for the most part, luxuries we can't afford. If the Cat MLE rumor turns out to be true, then we should be set...

Anyway, who else voted for Tierre? Come on, don't be shy...

Out of your list . . . the only difference makers are Posey and Cat. An addition of either one would be nice and would help. I don't see as either one pushing us over the top. Though a healthy Bob and Cat in the back court would be interesting. I just don't see any way we get posey back. Hory . . . why would he ruin a good thing? Sam I am . . . Sam I'm getting old. Mario would be cool, but what exactly would he bring to the team? Kelvin would be great to have, but in the end, Deke can spell Cato on this team. We can do better than the rest on the list. If Cat wants to come, welcome him with open arms and let him know that this is Van Gundy's team first. T-mac's second. Cat would have to fall waay down on the chain of command.

I didn't read the posts before voting & thought it was to play, so i chose Calvin Murphy.

I'd love to see Elie on the bench in any capacity.

The person I'd like to see return ON THE COURT would be Cat. He played well his rookie year when he wasn't a cornerstone of the franchise, and became stupid when he was. Now he has been "humbled" by a couple of trades, I think he'd be great to get back.

I really don't understand the fascination of putting Ellie on the bench. Ok, yeah . . . the whole Gina thing . . . A tie back to the good old days with the kiss of death and clutch city. But what specific knowledge does he bring to the table. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy. But as an asst. Coach? I would much rather an old stalwart X's and O's guy than a feel good Ellie. Its Van Gundy's ship, should be his guys . . . not a collection of old timers that pay service to a select few rockets fans. Just my opinion.

In what capacity? Because I really don't believe he has much of an interest in coaching.

He doesn't even live in the United States anymore. His Phi Slamma partner might be more in the realm of possibility.

Bringing back Hakeem in any kind of role, coaching, front offices or anything that would be desirable to him and good for the Rockets to me is much more appealing to me than anything else on that list.

Sure I would love to sign Mobley, bring back Calvin and acquire Mario Elie's services somehow but having Hakeem in this organization, if the desire was ever there on his part, is something that this organization could benefit from. Just take a look at all the past great's making a splash in today's game, just because Hakeem is a quiet, humble, Nigerian doesn't mean that should make him any different given the opportunity.

    1) Cat
    .
    .
    .
    2) Cato
    3) Cassell

That would be pretty cool, eh? Of course, Robert Horry can get a job anywhere he wants to now(hope he wants Houston). He seems like a magic wand that you can wave at the end of any playoff game.

Yep, that whole Jordan to the Wizards project turned out fantastically.
