everyone and their mom has been outspoken about the tmac situation this year. even puff piece writers have been slamming him. lets count the votes and see where the majority stands. A) keep tmac & resign him in 2010 - if we can get him healthy for a playoff run the sky is the limit. keep the core in tact. B) trade his ending contract this summer - this might be the highest his trade value will ever reach again. everyone wants to be under the cap for 2010. C) let his contract run out and part ways - we'll roll the dice in the FA market of 2010. hopefully we land another superstar, even if it means going through another year of this crap again. D) trade him before this years deadline - cut our losses and move on before things get worse.

forgot to add my own opinion on this... for me its between B and C. i love the idea of luring the likes of lebron, wade, johnson, etc... however, what if the superstars either resign with their current teams or choose to team up on the knicks or pistons who should have 2 max contracts available? then what? we would be left to sign B or C level talent, which is exactly what we would get for trading his ending contract this summer. the plus side is not having to put up with this drama again next year while we wait for his contract to expire. on the other hand... what if we roll the dice and come up with lebron, or any of the other superstars? after all souldn't we have as good a chance as anyone else? the real question in my mind is, roll the dice and waste another year or play it safe and trade him this summer? i'd rather play it safe and get what we can for him this summer. most likely none of those guys are changing teams aside from maybe bosh, and possibly melo.
Trading McGrady now doesn't necessarily mean the Rockets take themselves out of 2010 FA. It depends on what contract/s they take back. IMO trading McGrady over the Summer the Rockets are more likely to be offered decling older stars with contracts that take the Rockets out of 2010 FA. Make a trade now but try to split McGrady's contract into two players one who's deal expires before 2010 and the other another piece that adds to the team as an attractive destination for a marquee 2010 free agent.
Compare the results right now vs. after a Rockets loss. That's always funny to see for comparison's sakes.
