Up 2-0 in both series, should have won both, esp in 04-05, we played great basketball for 6 games, that should have been a sweep, but the refs jacked us, and then we got run out of the gym in game 7. this series, we played like hell every game, and were still up 5 in the 4th q of game 7 at home. I witnessed this one in person at TC, and it was bad, although the 40 point whipping was bad too. this is worse.
1980 & 1986 were worse... as was '97... Any defeat in round one pales in comparison to a later round loss. In a way, it's better to have lost to the Jazz this year in 7, than face a possible sweep vs a HOT Golden State... If Yao was too slow vs. Boozer & Co... imagine against the fast break. edit: to answer the question... this year (07) was worse, but it won't hurt after a few months as bad as the '80's did... we could/should have 4 trophies, maybe more if Ralph had stayed healthy.
lets not get to emotional after a loss. its obviously 2005. we had a better squad. With the exception of Shane, that squad was much better.
disagree, this years squad was better, yao was better, and to top it off, utah isn't as good as dallas
Definitely the utah loss. I remember being a lot more optimistic after losing to dallas. Now we've got a new GM, tmacs got a bad back, and yaos having more and more trouble staying healthy.
I think the squads were pretty even, but the expectations this time was much higher because of Yao's development and T-Mac's big mouth. This was worse IMO because the Mavs were a better team in '05 than the Jazz are in '07.
We should've won both series. I guess I'd say 2005 if you're looking at the entire series. We were up 2-0 coming home. There's no way we should've lost that one. But if we're just looking at Game 7 defeats, this one was worse. Sure, getting blown out by 40 is embarassing, but Dallas was the favorite in that game. Tonight, the Rockets lost Game 7 at home in a series where the home team had won every game. There's no excuse for coming out and getting outplayed and outhustled the way we were.
Agreed. We had Bobby Sura, David Wesley, Jon Barry & Mike James whereas this year we had Rafer Alston, Juwan Howard & Luther Head.
This is worse because we were expected to win and supposedly we had a better team this year than the last time but i kinda disagree because the only better players we have is chuck and battier otherwise id take the 05 team
05 game 7 was well out of reach where as 07 game 7 was a close game. The pain dig deep, like a dagger. Houston had 2 chances to win but instead.....
2005 was worse. We had that series if not for Cuban's complaint to officials about illegal screens. Yao was put under a microscope after first 2 games. Not to mention the Salvatore and Finley out of bounds missed call. That team had tough minded role players and had heart. This team lacked soul. Never could get too much into them and I knew they were flawed from the very beginning. Not really that disappointed that this team lost because I saw it coming and quiet honestly they lost to a Jazz team that deserved to win.
The backcourt of 2005 was just insane. Ten times better than this 2007 team. Sura, James, Barry, Wesley. Every one of them can create their own shots and hit 3s with accuracy. T-Mac was playing at MVP level, dude knocked down crazy shots all season long (the classic 13pts in 35 secs, etc). Rox was playing a much faster pace and they are fun to watch. I really think they were a legit contender back then. I have never had the same feeling about 2007 team. The backcourt is garbage except T-Mac. Head can shoot but he can't create or even handle the ball. VSpan and JLIII remain undeveloped and belong to NBDL. The best guard is Rafer Alston, which is a travesdy. Even T-Mac is not old self. Sorry to say, but he seems off-peak. Unfortunately he is still Rox's best player. All in all, 2005 was a legit contender, and 2007 team is never all that. A second round will be considered success for them and they couldn't even do that. So the loss in 2005 hurts more.
this year was worse. In 2005 we made the Playoffs for the first time with our duo and there was optimism everywhere. The Mavs were favored to win, but based on our performance in the series we were looked at as the next big contender, that season IMO was not a failure. This season, was a failure, we were expected to win, but we didn't.
in 2005 we were the dogs, we overachieved and played very well, except for going into our shells for game 7. in 2007, we were the higher seed, against a younger team. we were favored to win. we played like crap, our tiny bench disappeared, and we lost on our home floor. not to mention the jazz had their way with us EVERY game. both of them sucked, but im much more dissapointed this year.
2007 loss is morse and harder to accept. In 2005, at least we didn't have a PF, and Sura was sick and kind of out in the last game. This time, there is no excuse. Rockets are losers (next to Mavs).
NO!!!!! We had the homecourt advantage. We were up 2-0 Again!!! AGAIN!!!! 2 freaking 0. And then to blow it all in a game 7 at HOME!!!! This team played surprisingly good during the season, but when it mattered in the playoffs they froze. The 2005 team played good basketball in the playoffs, with the exception of game 7 of course. The 2007 version didn't have a good playoff game at all. Their shooting was terrible, their heart didn't seem in it, their defense was piss poor and they were made to look like chumps by a bunch of chumps. At least there was hope after 2005. We believed that they would come back and build on their good play (season and playoffs). But now what?
I have said it before during the season and will say it again: the 2005 squad was considerably better than this 2007 team. We would have beaten Dallas if Bob Sura wasn't so beaten up physically to the point that he couldn't move anymore and was getting blown by at will. But even with his injuries, Sura had twice the heart and leadership skills of this entire 2007 team. I tried to warn you guys, told you this team wasn't as good as advertised, that McGrady was camouflaging a lot of our weaknesses and that the playoffs had a way of exposing and amplifying those weaknesses, but most of you wouldn't listen... Mike James, Bob Sura, Jon Barry, David Wesley >>>>> Rafer, Head, Battier
