It seems a bit of a stretch to consider Washington a current contender. Jordan is good, but I don't think he is that good.

I basically think of anybody as a contender who could get to the 2nd round. Yeah, it's a generous definition... but hell, why not?

I think that Jordan could single-handedly win a first-round series if he exploded, hence I included them.

I thought Dallas was going to be good, but for the wrong reasons. Remember, they had Jason Kidd, Jamal Mashburn, and Jim Jackson. So for me, it came down to Sactown and the Clipps. The Clips just sucked so much that law of averages said they'd be ok some day. Also, I do not consider them "contenders". Of the real contenders now, I see Sactown as the biggest suprise from 4 yrs ago....the Maloof brothers have really done a good job. CWebb for Richmond was at the time thought to be hugely slanted towards Washington. Also, Pedra, Hedu, Doug Christie, Vlade, Bibby....all those moves are in the last 4-6 years. They were just continiously mediocre prior to that.

They didn't have a tradition of sucking like these other teams. Teams suck all the time. Most improve at some point.

They're contenders by Clipper standards :).

    Absolutley no question about it...Sacramento.

They got one of those "once in a franchise" type DREAM pieces of good luck. They had ONE decent player...who was a season away from being over the hill...and traded him for a SUPERSTAR who had 10 years ahead of him.

Richmond for Webber isn't even a fair deal in their primes...so to get CWEBB for an aging Richmond just defies belief. It would be like us getting Webber straight up for last the 2000 version of Glen Rice etc...

From that...they then get young guys wanting to play there...and then get guys like Bibby happy to be traded there.

If that deal doesn't happen...they are where the Grizzlies are.

I'm hoping Utah Jazz is the actual answer.

Jazz will not compete this year for the title. That happen 2 years ago.

Minnesota will not win neither, but they may compete for the title.

To compete for the title you have to have the ablility to get the finals and then compete with the West match up of LA,Sac,SA or Dallas. And from the east the only competition even worth watching in the finals are NJ, Philly, Bucks. Maybe Boston or Raptors.

And the east will still lose. In a 7 game series.

If the Wizards ever made it would be luck.
Maybe not luck if they get to the second round, but 3rd, nope.

    Dallas.

    Definitely.

I knew it had to happen, but I didn't know it would happen so soon.
