KT finishing around the basket or Mo's Rebounding and not being a hackeroid Rocket River ------------------
KT needs to work upon the finishes. So many times I have watched him make great moves to reach the rim and then drop my jaw in amazement at the ball going haywire. Do all of ya'll see some more potential in KT that we can exploit? Basically. wanting to know if this guy can improve his game and develop into a reasonable (not necessarily a star) power forward that gives us 15/8 per game ------------------
i was just thinkin about some of this too. seems kt can perform a little better if he gets the minutes. what can we get for a motaylor/cato package? ------------------ people who are related dont have to look alike. my mom and dad dont resemble each other at all
Definitely tariq. If the Rockets were to trade Mo' and give KT the starting spot(until Cato comes back and Hakeem slides to PF), KT would put up better numbers than Mo'. I have no doubt that Kenny could put up 15/8 a night. That being said, should the Rockets attempt to move Mo' before the trading deadline? ------------------ Five to one baby, one and five...no one here gets, out alive.
I know Sir Charles gets a tear in his eye and fills up with pride everytime KT pulls one of those 3pters. I'd like to see KT shooting come around first. If he was sooting around 40-45%, he'd be our starter. ------------------ I'ma need more than 6 and a half rebounds a game from the PF
Unfortunately, Kenny is just too short for his position, IMHO. He has great post moves, but either gets stuffed or hurries his shot to avoid the block and misses. I really don't think there is a solution. He is not a Barkley-like offensive player. If he were as tall as Mo, he would be fantastic. He is a good passer and rebounder and is decent on defense. However, when he gets the ball in the low post, he is less than a 50% shooter. He can't get his shot off over people in the low post. Maybe a running hook would help. ------------------
My vote goes for Mo Taylor. He is not going to be a boards machine or anything, but I think he can atleast be adequate. The main problem with KT is that he is just too short for the PF position. I know people hate to hear this, but when you scout big men you have to look at their height in addition to their skills. If you are trying to play the 4 spot in the NBA and are only 6-7 you had better have something significant to make up for your height disadvantages. Elton Brand is undersized in terms of height, but he has exceptionally long arms. Brand has something like a 7-5 wingspan which makes up for his lack of height. Charles Barkley had exceptional explosiveness and handled the ball very well so he could face up his opponent and beat him to the rim. KT does not have any of these attributes. Has anyone noticed that KT cant just make a straight post move and shoot over his opponent like Mo Taylor does? KT has to take the ball up high, make a huge spin move which half the time results in an opponent swiping the ball then if/when he gets to the rim he has to make so much adjustment in the air due to his lack of height that he misses. If everyone wants to pile on Mo for his lack for rebounding, how about piling on KT for his lack for FG %? Do you want your starting PF shooting under 40%? I sure dont. One last thing, KT loves to hoist 3's but is shooting pct from behind the arc is a pitiful 25%. That is a patheticly low pct shot and needs to be cut out of the offense. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
MM, I have noticed that KT can't shoot over a low post defender, see my post above. You detailed it more thoroughly. However, I have to disagree about the 3 pointers. He takes those when he is left open. Even though his percentage is miserable, I think he still has to take them when left wide open. The solution is for him to make more. If he doesn't even take the shot, it allows his defender to sag back to further stifle the offense. ------------------
MManal, KT has heart and desire. Shooting can be taught. Heart and desire cannot. So what if KT is 6'7". I would take a 6'7" PF with heart and desire who hustles his ass off, instead os a 6'9" 260lb PF who can't rebound, play defense or stay out of foul trouble. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
Mo wthout a doubt. Mo may never be great on the boards, but he will be better. To the person who said KT could gve 15/8, consider thar right now Kenny is averaging 6.9/4.6 in 22.5 minutes per game. If he were the starter and got Mo's minutes, he would have 27 minutes per game. So a 4.5 minute stretch would give him 8.1 more points and 3.4 more rebounds? ------------------ President of the Jason Collier fan club! Looking for next year's Jason Collier or Dan Langhi? I don't know about you, but I've seen more desire out of Mo than KT. He also IMO is a better defender than KT. The only thing KT has on him is a slight edge in rebounding, and slight at that. Mo's offensive repetoire is so much better than KT's its unreal. His defensive game is also better. All he lacks is a little bit on the boards, and a couple of boards extra for KT doesn't make him the starter. ------------------ President of the Jason Collier fan club! I disagree. Almost every game I see Kenny hustling to grab rebounds, while on the other hand I can't remember ever seeing Mo do that. I'm not saying he hasn't, but I agree with BobFinn*. Kenny has shown a much stronger desire to rebound. I agree that if Mo could stay out of foul trouble he could be incredibly explosive on offense if given the chance. I keep hearing about how Kenny has great footwork, but is it just me or does he travel everytime he touches the ball? Even when he does make a nice move to get to the basket it seems like he shuffles his feet. He probably should get called on it more than he does, and he gets called for it a lot. He also apparently went to the Kelvin Cato/Arvydis Sabonis School of Whining, because he cries about every single foul, and non call during the game. Hopefully if he gets some of those gimmes he's been missing, his confidence will go up and he can shake off the poor fg%. ------------------
Is Mo Taylor really that bad of a defender? I mean I've seen him take some charges, block a few shots, and generally play some decent defense usually. Sure Mcdyess balled him up but Mcdyess was ballin up KT also. And I think that last night, MO Taylor was gettin some cheap fouls called on him. On one play, the guy he was guardin was coming across the lane w/out the ball. Mo barely bumped him, and they called a foul on him. Mcdyess goes over the back twice, and the refs dont even see it. And another foul - MO was the only 1 back during a Denver fastbreak and he went up for the block. Yeah he fouled the guy, but would you rather have him just watched the guy lay it in? And on the play before that, Shandon drove hard to the basket, and Mcdyess or someone fouled him, yet there was no foul called. Mo'll be allright... he was starting off well yesterday... being very aggresive. If he can just do that instead of always pulling up for the J, AND stay outta foul trouble, he'll be really good. ------------------ da ability to focus attention on important things is a defining characteristic of intelligence - alaskanSnowman
I think KT gets some of the cheesiest weakest most pathetic calls against him in the game on offense Mo settles for the jumper too much for me. . . It seems nowadays the flava of the month is a 6'11 PF with handles I think working with KT will provide more benefits for a cheaper price d*mmit. . . I'm just not impressed with Moe and I wanted to be I understand learning the O etc. But I don't think i've seen him in the flow of a game yet Rocket River ------------------
"Shooting can be taught." Height cant. It seems like everyone trashing Mo is dodging all the height questions on KT. The guy is just too short to play the PF spot. He cannot score over bigger players b/c he has zero advantage on them. Barkley was quicker and more explosive than his bigger opponents; Elton Brand made up for his lack of height with incredibly long arms. What does KT have over his opponents, someone please tell me b/c I dont see it. Also, it gets really annoying when people keep saying Mo isnt trying out there b/c he is. As Snowman pointed out, his defense isnt that bad, its just that he makes mistakes and picks up fouls. Are the folks that keep trashing Mo waching the games? Mo has been drawing charges and attempts to get blocked shots from the weakside. If the Rockets bench Mo and start KT forget about the playoffs and start counting lottery balls. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
KT was just a rookie last year, this is the 4th for MoMoney. Think of where MoMoney should be in terms of learning positioning for rebounds and where KT will be by his 4th year considering he is already better than Mo. ------------------ I'ma need more than 6 and a half rebounds a game from the PF
