So what big man is Morey targeting for a trade? I suspect either Brad Miller or Joel P., possibly Marcus Camby. Maybe Kamen in a big splash move. Or possibly Big Z.
I would have put Gasol on the list but don't think it is feasible. They have Gasol and the rookie as their two big men. The big Iranian dude can't play and they know it. They want rid of him.
Of those listed, I think Camby would be the most attractive. Expiring deal and gives the team an elite rebounder/shot-blocker. Something like Battier+Andersen for Camby wouldn't be a shock. Not that I'd be particularly happy about it.
I could see us moving Cook, Barry, one of those 2nd rounders, etc... for a small potatoes big man. The only way we pull off a serious move is if McGrady looks great and we are resigned in letting him walk in the offseason. In that case Camby and Shaq become legitimate possibilities if those teams include 1st rd picks (2 in Cleveland's case).
did I miss something? why the sudden speculation? none of those options look like an upgrade. Camby is just empty stats... patience.
This. jopatmc, why didn't you make this an option? Without it, your poll is essentially just asking a leading question.
I was looking for where he said he was really going to trade for a bigman. Couldn't find it, so I am going with the option not currently there. None of the Above.
Did I miss something? When did Morey said he is trading for a big man? Other than the failed attempt to get Gortat weeks ago.
All my readings in the boards, jopatmc is a poster who states his points most eloquently and with supporting detail, and I never ever agree with. But a well researched though disagreeable opinion just means its a good board.
Well, "no one" should be an option, sure, since this is a possibility. Either an oversight or jopatmc strongly believes our current lineup isn't going to hack it without a real center. Funny, though, how some of you went looking for some thread where Morey said we're going to trade for a big. I put "Other" because Landry can be traded to Charlotte now and in two days Tyson Chandler will be available again for a multi-player trade. Not that I think he's all that but if it meant Tmac + Landry + whomever for Chandler + Diaw (who averages 4 or 5 assists as a 4/5)..... All right, all right, it isn't going to happen.
Ditto. It is amazing though that Battier's name is always mentioned as tradeable in combination with others. I think SB is a rare team anchor and leader with plenty of brains so I don't get the fettish for trading him. Oh, and yes, he's got game too.
