We have a lot of die hard Chuck and Deke fans that believe we will resign them. I only give Deke a shot of being in street clothes just in case Yao gets injured. The battle: Head vs. James * Head would be unable to get off a shot since James would pressure him from end to end causing multiple turnovers. Alston (Bench this year) vs. Brooks * Tough to call since Rafer would give the young guy some schooling. But Brooks could break him down Snyder vs. Harris * I would give Snyder the edge since he has more experience at the pro level and hustles while on the court. Bball IQ goes to Harris Chuck vs. Landry * Chuck would give Landry trouble with his hustle D, forcing Landry to take difficult shots. However, Landry could rest all day on D and keep Chuck between him and the basket Deke vs. Butler * If Butler can hit an outside jumper, Deke is in trouble. Deke has no offense whatsoever, but would Deke would murder him on the boards except for long rebounds. Final Score: New Bench 81 - Old Bench 77 Leading Scorers: New Bench - James w/18 Old Bench - Luther w/13 Leading Rebounders: Chuck - 8 Harris - 7 Leading Assists: Rafer - 6 Brooks - 4
The new bench is too deep imagine the old bench gaurding aaron brooks, mike james,luther...enough said were just too deep the old bench realy only had juwan and luther that could score.
What the hell..... The new bench will murder last years bench................ Landry and Harris are water boys sorry.
Waste of bandwidth, even though I voted. The question should have compared our bench to any other teams bench, whoever it is....I think we win. PROVE ME WRONG.
Lets look at the bench last year It was Head, Juwan, Deke, and thats it since Van Gundy had a 8 man rotation. This year we have Brooks, Bonzi, Francis, Hayes, Deke, Snyder and Alston.
Good point AB, but I wanted to resolve the issue of which players we should keep based on head to head matchups. TriCkz - I'm telling u Harris isn't a waterboy. The guy has legitimate skills against people at Rashards level. I know the Fonde Summer league isn't the real forum to judge, but he more than held his own against Artest, Rashard etc... The guy can leap out the gym and score down low like Bonzi. He can also shoot the 3, which he has worked on.
Thats why he was in the D-League... and got a un-guaranteed contract. If he was that good... Wouldn't he be making millions now?
He just hasn't got the chance as people such as Snyder. If give Snyder type minutes, he would produce more than Snyder and his Bball IQ is definitely higher. There is a slight difference between the number 9 guy on an NBA roster and the D league.
He would have gotten a chance if he was good... What did he come in after Rashard played 35 minutes..
Harris went undrafted. He's getting his chance now. Kirk Snyder was drafted 16th. A guaranteed multiyear contract is keeping him in the league. He's clashed with all the coaches he's had in the NBA.
With who the Rockets? A 3rd/4th-string PF Under Scola / Hayes And Possibly Foster / Haslem? If he makes the Rockets squad I will be shocked.
Get ready to be shocked, he may be in a suit on the sideline. But he will be on the Rockets bench and if somebody doesn't work out Fat Bonz and knucklehead Kirk, he could see playing time.
Why don't you shut the hell up and give them a chance before you call a couple of very capable guys water boys. I gaurantee that when these guys actually do something during the season you'll be one of those guys to turn around and say 'wow these guys are pretty good.' in fact, you were probly rippin Morey about the Brooks pick and then were one of that guys that when you actually saw him play said 'man, i'm glad we got brooks...good pick'
First off NO WAY IN HELL both Harris and Landry make the team. Why let Harris sit and rot on the bench for the next few years when he is going to be about 26 or 27 before he even gets to play? When you can send Landry to the D-League when he has more potential to be a even better player. Harris has reached his peak and thats the only reason why the Rockets are looking at him. Unfortunately his peak is just not good enough for this season's Rockets. Don't put words into my mouth. I loved the Brooks pick actually, why you say? Cause the kid can play. I've seen games of him while he was in Oregon and more highlights when he was drafted. My first response when he got drafted was "He is our 3rd play maker" next to James and McGrady.
Well I do apologize for puttin words into you mouth but then you put words into mine. I'm just sayin I wish everyone would just wait and see what happens before they declare someone a water boy. And do you think we have enough depth at PF to send Landry to the D-League or were you thinking about even possibly bringing him back up during the season?
I put words in your mouth? Read my post again. Anyways, Do we have enough PF depth you say? No we don't. Scola (could turn out to be a bust but I'm willing to bet he is better than Landry) Hayes (He's proven he can be a starter but he will be are 2nd PF this year) But we will when the season starts. Im willing to bet Alston / Head / JL3 will be used to get a serviceable PF such as Foster / Haslem for insurance incase Scola ends up sucking. So Landry / Harris as our 4th PF I doubt it.. especially SINCE WE TRYING TO CUT DOWN ARE PLAYERS CAUSE WE CAN ONLY HAVE 15!!!!!!
