It looks like Rocket fans dodged a bullet. Like many here, I was worried that the front office might rush a trade for SF after the Superbowl mix up, but luckily that didn't happen. What's the number one rule in professional sports? To never trade a player when their value is lowest, and I think SF's trade value took a hit, because NBA general managers thought the Rockets might be desperate to dump him. I give credit to management for being patient. SF's value will go way up come August when his BYC drops, and by then everything might be smoothed over between him and JVG, making a trade unnecessary. Especially if the Rockets do well in the playoffs. Three cheers for the status quo! At least until the end of summer..... Raven
Yeah I was a little scared also. The news of us trading Mo-T and Cato would break my heart. I'm glad we didnt trade any of them. These past few days have been a little nerve wrecking for me. I feel that we should give the guys on the roster one final more chance b4 making any moves.
Is that really the number one rule in all of professional sports? I would think it would be to always wear a jockstrap, or something like that.
So has the deadline officially passed now? I'm a little hazy on the exact time, and I can't find any references to it on ESPN. Thanks.
Yes, but sometimes trades are announced some time after it's past, so I wouldn't say we haven't done anything for sure... unless and until JVG and CD make a statement today.
Only slightly less well known is that you should never match wits with a Sicilian when death is on the line.
I'm glad we didn't go out and make a *bad* trade, and judging by the general lack of big trades, there probably wasn't much we could do with Francis that would make sense. However, just doing the status quo because we hope they'll improve is silly. The last two games have been nice, but New Orleans destroyed Washington as we did. The Dallas game is really going to be the ruler to measure our progress by, and I fear we haven't progressed near as far as some would hope to be a factor in the West.
I think Rasheed leaving Detroit depends on his relationship with the organization i think and the city. If they start losing more and more...in an unexpected turn around, expect him to leave. If they're winning and are likeable, then he might consider resigning with them. So it all depends on how the season turn out.
Actually, the papers in Indy are saying that we offered them SF from Croshere, but they turned it down.
