When's this giant going to sign?!?! Did we get robbed of our #1pick? If anyone has word of when he is going to sign. Do tell
Late October, when he's finished with the Asian Games. Yao will miss training camp, but play some pre-season games.
DavidS:- I think thats only hearsay! There has been no offical indication to the public or fans! We just keep on expecting!
Yetti, it may be heresay that Yao will sign after the Asian games and upon his expected arrival in Houston. But, if he doesn't sign in late (after the 16th, maybe should be considered mid-month) when would he? I can't see the Rockets picking up Yao at the airport and driving him straight to a press conference. At the same time Yao's going to arrive late in camp and he won't practice until he signs. What do you mean? We don't have the exact date and time yet? You think Yao's going to take a vacation after the Asian games when he's been waiting for this for years? If I'm 22 and someone offers me millions to sign a contract I'm on the first flight out. What do you mean?
declan32001:- To make things clear! As Fans we try to be as positive as we can, conserning the Rockets dealings with the Shanghai Sharks and the CBA (China).Upto this time, the signing of Yao Ming has not been executed. One had hoped, based on gut feeling and very little official information, that Yao Ming would have signed, while he was in the USA after the WBC. The true reason or reasons why he did not, is only left to conjecture! From what I gathered, the Rockets should have received CBA clearance via FIBA for this to happen and they did not. The Rockets via various sources indicate that they have been given the assurance that Yao Ming would leave the Orient, just after completing his obligations to the NT in the Asian Basketball Championships, which ends on Monday Oct. 14th. and then join the Houston Rockets. Considering all the different goings on like the Wang saga and the utterings from L.Y. Shanghai Sharks Manager, one is made a little uneasy about the whole situation. Yet we must have confidence that the CBA will not loose face over this matter and that just like before the Draft, they will come through, at the last moment, with the clearance. All will be smiles, and then for the Rox it all starts all over again, were back in the big time!
