I have to admit I don't reqd everything on the net, but I have not heard a word about Badiane since the Minny Tourney. Does anyone else consider this odd. I haven't heard anything about Germany or signing him to the Rocket training camp. As we discussed at the time of the tourney, if we sign to training camp and then cut him he becomes a free agent, but if we send him back to Europe we keep him indefinitely. So Anyone heard anything? I thought they might be keeping him on the back burner in case Motumbo didn't sign.
I have all the faith in the world in our coaching staffs. If Badiane is good enough, he will be one of the 12 guys on the team this year, otherwise we wont hear much about him until next summer.
Hopefully, he'll be ready in 2 years. He would be ideal to backup Yao when Mutumbo retire. But, until then, the Rockets don't really need him. From what I heard on people who saw him, he appears too slow to play Power Forward, and is more suited to play center. Our Power Forward combo of Swift and Howard is quite good. And Yao and Mutumbo make an excellent tandem at Center. Bad Man just got himself 1 to 2 years more in the Developmental league. And that's all I hope to hear about him until he actually starts playing like he'll help the Rockets!
I don't know how the developmental league works, but in an earlier discussion it was pointed out that if we invited him into training camp and subsequently couldn't use him(and I am sure we won't use him this year) that he would become a free agent whereas if he goes back to Europe we retain our option. Has the new CBA and NBDL setup changed all that? It seems that if he was headed back to Germany we would have heard by now. This is all getting very confusing. And yes it appears that he will be playing center rather than the 4 spot. He has the length. I do wish he could get some tutoring from Deke before he retires.
Badiane scored 0 points in 3 of the 4 games he played in this summer, he went from the "bad man" to the "terrible man". You can get a better player scanning the waiver wires.......
of course that other game he went something like 7/7 with an 18 foot jumper.... that terrible, terrible man.
I know you are just being silly and a nuisance but common do not turn to EDC. Malick was instructed by the coaching crew to focus on his REBOUNDING and SHOT BLOCKING. So he did and ended up being the second best rebounder in the MSL. He is a project and offense is not what we are looking for primarily from him. Worse, you did not even watch any of the games to understand what was going on on the ground. DoD's reports though well appreciated must be taken with proper perspective. Draftexpress, SI and few other news outlets raved about him and his output in the MSL. They pronounced him both promising and solid. Dawson also hinted that THEY ARE/WERE SATISFIED with his progress so far and they more than likely expect MAlick and V-Span to be ready to join the team next year after further seasoning in Europe. There is a timetable and it is fair to say that all is still on course for both players especially Malick who like most big men take a while longer to come around. So Malick will go back to Europe and spend another season; following that a "progressive" will be made on him. It is unfortunate that injury set his development back but it is believe that he will make the necessary growth this season especially if he is his sidelined by an injury. The tools and intangles Malick possess are the same ones that made Ben Wallace, Sammy Dalembert, Bo Outlaw, Dan Gadzuric, and many other unheralded bigmen what they are today - sucessful NBA bigmen (no matter how minute each's success may have been). So [Ill Skillz] please save us the stupid comments that have now become stale.
Fegwu, if I thought you knew a damn thing about basketball, I might be insulted by your post. You don't know jack, so who cares. So do yourself a favor and worry about what you post and not what I post. Badiane has done absolutely nothing thus far. So anyone saying he's a scrub has scoreboard over those who think he's worth suggesting, every time the wind blows, that Badiane will ever be a decent NBA player. Your posts reek of being nothing but a parrot to every quote you read in the newspaper....
makes one wonder why you care what he posts... by the way, you might be right. I did smell something that was Ill'n... (oh I know, I know... it's probably my "momma" or something to that effect you wiley wordsmith)
I just wonder, has there EVER been this much interest/concern over a second round draft pick that has never played pro or college basketball in the US??? Seriously? What is the mystique here?
It's the unknown quality that grabs people's imagination about any prospect. I have to admit that some of the reports I've read about Spanoulis have me more than hopeful. With T-Mac and Yao here we're not likely going to be able to get anyone near top 5 at their position unless we draft them. And since we expect to be drafting very low for many seasons to come our best shot are the 2nd round fliers. Besides this thread is infinitely more viable than the one discussing JVG's hair.
The mystique for Badiane will die when training camp starts, or sooner. Then it will rear it's head again next summer. I was more amazed by the two threads totaling about 150 posts for Chuck Hayes. Several people here thought he actually could make the team. What a joke.
