I may be forgeting some guys, but clearly better than him in no particular order : jordan, kobe, wade, drexler, reggie miller, west, iverson and probably ray allen.
After that im not so sure, manu had a great career.

Level of play or achievements, championships etc?

Level of play, probably somewhere 15-20. The SG position is weak right now but it's pretty stacked historically. Just 2000s, there's Kobe, Wade, Vince, Ray Allen, TMac, Iverson all in their primes.

Ginobilli sure was good when he played. But he was never a number 1 option, and you have to dock major points off due to the fact that you could never just ride him over a NBA season like you could the other great shooting guards because he would always get injured if you did. Jordan, Kobe, Wade, Drexler, Miller, Allen, Iverson, Gervin, Sam Jones are all easily better, and I'd probably take T-Mac and maybe even Vince over Manu as well.

Maybe top-10, certainly top-15. He missed a ton of games and rarely played big minutes, even in the playoffs. No matter how good his rate stats were, that has to be held against him. Counting stats are important when determining a player's legacy.

I think Jordan, Bryant, Drexler, Wade, West, Miller, and Allen are clearly ahead of him. Iverson too in my mind, though advanced metrics aren't terribly kind to him (but something should be said for the insane minutes AI was able to log, despite taking far more punishment than Manu). Arguments could be made for Gervin, Maravich, Vince, and T-Mac. It depends on how much you take team success and international achievements into account. I think the rings argument can only be taken so far, considering the fact that he was never actually the best player on any of those Spurs championship teams.

Manu is over tmac and iverson. You have to win something if you want ti be in the list
In the last 20 years ( so drexler doesnt compet)

    Jordan
    Kobe
    Manu

Even if you choose to believe in that silliness, you're forgetting Wade and Allen.

Manu wasn't the best player on those Spurs teams. At times he wasn't the second best. Hell, he might not have even been their third best player when they won in 2002-2003. Replace him with Ray Allen and there's a good chance they win more titles.

Reggie Miller and Ray Allen were not better than Ginobili. I'd probably take 15 shooting guards over Miller and Allen had just one season with WS/48 over .200 in his career, Ginobili is one of 20 players in NBA history with WS/48 over .200 for his career.

Manu is a Hall of Famer because of his Olympic accomplishments, International success and being an important part of a Spurs dynasty. There are very few players that have had success for as long and at different levels like Manu has.

Having said that, Manu would NOT be a Hall of Famer based purely on his NBA play. If he played his whole career on the Bucks, he would be remembered in the same class as guys like Dennis Johnson and Detlef Shrempf... Very good but not great.

Anyone that thinks that Manu was a better NBA player than McGrady, Drexler, Carter, Allen and Wade is just wrong.

I do support Ginobili as a Hall of Famer though, because it is the basketball Hall of Fame, not just the NBA... The reason someone like Sabonis deserves to be a Hall of Famer.

Wait so you have to win something in the last 20 years? (which Drexler did) Otherwise you do not qualify?? Why 20 years, and why do players before that time not count.

Manu is not one of the 3 best sg of all time. He was never the best player on his team.

No doubt Manu has a very WS/48 - because he played so few minutes compared to the other all-time shooting guards. Put it this way. No one views Tracy McGrady as a player who had a long and distinguished career - but he played over 30,000 minutes in his entire career. Ray Allen? 45,000. AI? 37,000. Reggie? 47,000.

Manu is barely over 20,000. You could ride McGrady over a season, and at his peak with a horrible supporting cast in Orlando, he could get you in the playoffs. You could ride AI over a season, and you could with Allen like he did in Seattle, and you could with Reggie. But you couldn't do it with Manu, because he would break down as we saw repeatedly in his career.

    This is absolutely rediculous.

Jordan, Kobe, Wade, Pistol Pete, Drexler, Gervin, Iverson and West are all better than Ginobili.
