Rank him if he won this SB / Rank him losing this SB and never winning another one.

Top 10 with none. Top 5 with 1 ring. Top 2 with 2 rings. It's a toss up with the GOAT between Montana/Elway/Manning/Brady/Unitas for me.

I have seen Montana and Unitas live, many times. Great, great players. Don't forget about Terry Bradshaw. He may be a clown on TV, but as a player, he had a robotic arm, just amazing. Marino was no slouch either. There have been so many great QB's, very difficult to rank them. No doubt, Manning should be in the mix.

I think win or lose he's behind Brady, Montana, and Unitas although i've only seen highlights of Unitas. He belongs on the Mount Rushmore of QB's.

Winning a Super Bowl top 3 (definitely); Losing top 5 (arguably):

Top 5-ish group: Montana, Elway, Manning, Brady, Graham, Marino, and Unitas

Number 3 slightly behind Brady if he wins, still top even if he loses

If he wins, I think he would be tied with Brady for 2. Joe Montana is the greatest quarterback that ever lived. His record in playoffs and superbowls speaks for itself. 13 (11 passing 2 rushing) TD's and 0 INT's while completing 68 percent of his passes.

I'm not ranking them in order but the best QB's I have ever seen play the game:

    Staubach
    Bradshaw
    Montana
    Brady
    Manning

Each of those guys are great and I'm not going to rank one over the other. Johnny U was a shadow of himself when I saw him play. I don't remember much about Bart Star except what I saw in highlights and Otto Graham was before my time. Those three and Sammy Baugh are the guys that deserve consideration but since I never watched them play when they were great I'll just mention them.

Marino and Tarkenton are the best to never win a championship.

Greise, Aikman, Young, Stabler and even Sims were great QB's but were just a notch below those 5 mentioned above.

Elway and Favre were great QB's but I never really liked them a lot for different reasons. I thought Favre cost his team as many play-off games as he won them but he did get 1 SB win. Elway was lucky to still be hanging on as a Bus Driver Style QB when Denver finally put together a team that could have won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer as the QB.

Manning has to be very close to the top...mainly because I feel he would have done just as well as the other top QB's if manning was the QB of their teams.

The way he's able to read defenses at the LOS is still underrated.

I also feel he would be good in any era... Can't say the same for all the good QB's today.

I'd exchange Griese and Sims, easily for Brees, Rodgers, Kelly, or Moon.
Elway played on some very awful teams, during the 80s and 90s, almost had no business in Super Bowl, sort of like the Giants (2007, 2011), but much worse team overall. Could you imagine what Elway would've done, if he had the same talent that Eli did from (06-now). Nicks, Cruz, Manningham, and Shockey (TE) as receivers one team, and Burress, Toomer, Hixon, Smith, and Boss on another one. Ward, Jacobs, and Bradshaw as running backs. He'd have at least, 3.

Favre, I'm not quite as sure, but from what I've seen when he's at his best, he easily a top 5-10 player. He does have some lowlights, but his sheer numbers and iron-man status cannot be overlooked. Almost 20 years without missing a game is remarkable for QB, he didn't always have the greatest line in the world in the Packers down years, especially.

Win or lose, he's top 3. For me he is the best I've ever seen.

I need to see him have a great game in the SB (not just win) before I'd rate him above Montana though.

If he wins on Sunday and has his way with Seattle's defense, it's either him or Montana, flip a coin.

Brady "might" be third, but I'm absolutely factoring in video gate. Sorry, but that's a mark on every accomplishment up until they were caught.
