If it were likely to happen, we wouldn't be so excited would be? Well, we are excited, more excited than since? I can't remember being so excited since perhaps the Championship years. Or perhaps the 97' Utah series. Or maybe it was game 7 vs. the Knicks. Yeah, that was it.... So with that in mind...what if...what if the unthinkable happens and we pull it off and shock the world? Where would it rank?
I was 2 yrs old when R. Sampson hit the game winner against the Lakers to send them to the Finals. I think thats a hard one to top. Maybe if the Rockets pull it off, I may have an answer!!
i would think that the gs mavs series 2 yrs ago was a srs upset...but yeah rockets would rank higher than that...
69 mets were know as miracle season I believe , and if the rockets beat the lakers without thire top two players it wil be a miracle
I think it would fall right between Lambda Lambda Lambda beating the Alpha Betas and the Average Joes upsetting Globo-Gym. Go Rox!
Of those on your list from my lifetime, the Buster Douglas upset was the MOST improbable. Casinos stopped taking bets on that fight because the odds were out of control. He wasn't expected to last the first couple of rounds. Tyson was seen not just as a great fighter...but as the greatest fighter. I'm not sure I'll ever see an upset in my life in any sport on par with that. I'll be thrilled with this win....but honestly, I won't be nearly as shocked as I was watching the Sonics go out in the first round vs. the Nuggets. Frankly, I don't have as much respect for this Laker team as I did for that Sonics team.
The American Revelotion? When our forefathers freed us from the oppressive dictatorship of skin dryness?
The Rebel Alliance defeating the Empire. As far as I'm concerned the Staples Center is the Death Star!
Really? I think this Lakers team is much better than those sonics. People have been dissing this Lakers team left and right, but I really think if they win this game, they will go on to beat up Denver and whomever they face in the finals. This Lakers team is much better than last year. People simply haven't given us much credit for disrupting them. Not sure Denver will be able to repeat just because they have more talent. That to me is what this series proves, that there's more to the game than individual talent. Yes, their's Shane Battier's tireless effort, there's Aaron Brooks speed, Carl Landry explosiveness, Luis Scola's scrapiness and spins...there's Kyle Lowry's pit bull drives to the basket, and Chuck Hayes lock down post D on guys a foot taller. All of those things escape the stat sheet for the most part...but let's not diss the Lakers because our guys are disrupting them. Give us the credit, not them. That sonics team choked in the first round twice = back-to-back. They never won anything. And they lost in a 5 game series, not 7.
Whnen the series started, I wouldn't have been that surprised to beat LA. I've said all year, I'd rather face the Lakers than the Jazz. Now that we're down one All-Star Center, this would be a great upset.
that sonics team made it to the finals 2 years later only to take one of the greatest teams of all times to 6 games. this lakers team is kobe and a bunch of gutless wonders.
