It irks me to see so many teams picking other coaches instead of giving, to my knowledge, the only Associate Head Coach in the league. Everyone knows this guy and he's had success wherever he's been

He's been an assistant for 19 years. Apparently he's only had one year of head coaching experience, that with Salem State (quick Wikipedia search). Perhaps he's just a career assistant. He wouldn't be the first. What's wrong with being the Tex Winter of defense?

Tex Winter has been a head coach for such teams as... umm. How about... THE ROCKETS :p
99ers are getting too old, minds are fading.

He's interviewed a lot, he seems to be destined to be the bridesmaid and not the bride. Wonder what the reason is?

he wont leave the nba for the ncaa.

here's the latest rumor from minnesota:

also, he pulled his name out of the race for the kings job. apparently, the kings wanted to low ball all offers. rambis has second thoughts about leaving the lakers, where he is in line to replace jackson, for only 2 guaranteed years at a low head coaching salary. meanwhile, thibs might have similar feelings about the security of the deal.

my best guess is he stays in boston one more year. thibs, like rambis, would need a competitive offer from a good team in order to leave a team which competes for championships.

No one wants him because he is associated with a boring brand of basketball. Its not real appealing from a business point of view.

    True. He is the anti-D'Antoni.

I would love to see him end up on a team full of athletes who could really apply his defensive philosophy. I'm positive that if JVG went to Atlanta the Hawks would be a top 3 team in the East. Maybe Thibs can find his way there (wishful thinking).
