Steve would be a good fit on a pitiful team with no other decent talent that is going no where and he can dribble and shot all he wants.

I am a Steve Francis fan -- I hope he does well somewhere -- I hope he learns team basketball. I think he has as much heart and determination as anyone but I don't see him leading a champion.

Steve Francis works better as a David trying to sleigh a Goliath

Steve either needs to be on a perrenial loser that will let him play without a leash and hope that his flash will keep the fans around, or on a team with a Jordan-level leader that will slap him into shape. Orlando did great to start off the year when Steve was free to commit his 3 to 5 TO/game, but the second they wanted to pull him off the point and get him to play within a team concept, it collapsed big time. Strange as it is, as awkward as it was, JVG did a better job wedging Steve into a disciplined system as a 1. He needs a serious alpha-dog to keep him in line.

I don't know that Steve will ever get it, and that makes me sad. In the end, he still believes that he alone is a better go-to option than using the team.

I remember Sir Donkey Charles always saying that Steve and Cuttino will never get it..

Its still true for Steve but it looks llike Cuttino is doing a lot better..

So I still think there is a team out there for Steve..

Poor Steve. An unbelievable talent that will just never "get it". I think he will make a good shooting guard, his biggest problem is dribbling way too much. If someone could get the ball to him on the break or in catch and shoot type situations, then he would fit in.

A run-and-gun team with no definitive center and no real chance for going anywhere. That would fit Steve.

    Clippers?

Anywhere that he can play the point and with any head coach that doesn't make him look like a basketball Einstein.

I'd like to see him on a team where he definately isn't the best player, Minnesota with KG, Denver with Anthony and Martin or Indiana with O'Neal and Artest, Memphis with Gasol and all those other dudes would be fun to watch. The Magic can also change coaches and he'll be fine there too.

To torture Weisbra, Steve is perfect for Orlando.

He can't catch and shoot though and most often than not rather catch, dribble then shoot.

He would be perfect on a team that has outside shooting and defense, but lacks a guy who can create a shot/get to the basket. The funny thing is that Orlando has a lot of players who fit that sort of mold... Christie, Turkoglu, and Howard come to mind. If they had a center who could simply keep defenses from collapsing on Steve using his jumper, Orlando would be just about the perfect team for him. However, they don't have that guy... they have Cato. If they had say, LaFrentz at the 5, then Orlando would be a much better fit.

The fact is Jameer Nelson/Grant Hill/Kelvin Cato don't really belong on the same team with Stevie. They don't fit the model of building around Steve. But given the choice, clearly Orlando is going with Hill, so oh well.

I disagree, I think Hill fits perfectly with Francis. I think Hill frees him up of alot of the duty to distribute and allows Francis to have more of a free reign in terms of scoring. He's a good passer, when he doesn't have to be the only passer. Kinda like Scottie Quitten was to MJ, although Hill definitely isn't Pip and Steve definitely isn't Michael. He'd do best surrounded by athletes who he can run and gun with, mixed with shooters who can space the floor for his one-on-one drives.

Did Charles ever "get it"? Who is he to criticize?!?! He has not won anymore championships then Steve or Cuttino.

The man was an MVP candidate on many occasions, winning one of them.

Comparing him to guys like Steve, Cuttino... or even Sam Cassell or Robert Horry (who have 7 championships between them)... is ludicrous.

He took a team to the finals and teams he led were usually in the playoffs.

That's a step above Stevie right now.

And a step below MJ and other Champions.
