I think he could be a hot name this offseason, and I believe JVG has said he would probably get back into coaching and wouldn't do anything during this season -- which puts him on the market this summer. With the Knicks almost sure to have a vacancy, that could be an attractive hire for the team and fans since he's huge there. I can't see JVG wanting that roster though. Any thoughts?
Well if he does go to NY he's going to ask for alot of money (which he will get) and he's gona overhaul the roster. I personaly think the Kings, NY, or Chicago...
I think JVG like big market teams with rich basketball history. I also believe he will prefer coaching a Least Conference team with a decent roster because he can turn things around quickly. After all, most coachs will only given 2-4 years contract, which requires them to think short term results. That excludes both Knicks and Nets. Bulls will be a dream team for him.
Unless Dolan sells the Nicks I would be shocked if he went there. At a "breakfast with the coach" event BigM and I went to during the summer of 2006 he called Dolan an "idiot"
i can see chicago doing it...the team has already shown in the past to be a good defensive team...problem is that after the team rebelled against skiles wouldnt they do the same with JVG who is just the same type? also there are a lot of young players who will be playing for a contract as well. NY is too much of a mess JVG left there because he didnt like management and this was before isiah came aboard. i actually wouldnt be surprised if he went to the bucks...they have too good of a roster for them to be playing so poorly i can see him turn around things there quick
Actually, I think JVG could whip the Knicks into a 50 win team. He is a wayyyy better coach than Isiah.
Chicago or maybe Cleveland? Mike Browns days seem kinda numbered extensions or not, if the Cavs don't make the finals it's a failure and it seems like Lebron is doing all the work for the most part.
knicks is the obvious initial choice, but like others have said, i dont think he would considereing the owner and management. bulls seem like a "most" likely...the heat is is another interesting idea
East Bulls Knicks Hawks Bobcats West Nuggets?? If I'm JVG, I look seriously at the Bulls, and if there is an open position with the Bobcats. That team has a defensive base (Emeka), talented but currently injured players that should add depth next season, talented offensive players (Felton, Wallace, Richardson) and will again have another top draft pick. In the east, that could mean playoffs under JVG as early as next season, but if not, another lottery draft pick, a bunch of average but talented players to leverage for some veterans in a trade and definite playoffs in the following years. Not exactly NBA championship material, but Charlotte is a nice place to live...
I don't know where he will coach, but, as I have said before, my dream scenario is for JVG to coach a middle school girls team as a part of a new ESPN reality show.
