Where to watch UT on Saturday in Houston?

So where can I see the Longhorns play Baylor/Texas Tech on Friday night in Houston? It looks like Channel 51 will show the Rockets game instead.

Any of the long-term locals know of a bar I can go to?

    Thanks.

    Hook 'em!

and congrats to T.J. Ford for being named SI's POY. Too bad this week's issue of SI hasn't arrived in my mailbox yet!

That should say on FRIDAY in the title. If an admin could fix it, I'd appreciate it.

Texadelphia, SRO, Jillian's, D&B's. I really don't know many popular Houston sports bars.

Buffalo Wild Wings had a pretty big UT turn out for the game on Saturday.

    And in Rice's backyard...how sad.

You've got to be freaking kidding me if Channel 51 shows Rockets over UT. This is the Big 12 tourney not UT vs. TAMU-CC.

Rockets fans can watch the game on WGN or at least the Rockets should move the game to WB39 so the UT game can be aired live.

Uh, it's the quarterfinals of the BigXII tourney while the Rockets are in a playoff battle. I'm guessing there are more Rocket fans in Houston than UT basketball fans.

I understand that but Channel 51 and UT should find a way to air the game live in Houston. Maybe Pax 49 (TW Ch. 7)?

Texadelphia to be with UT fans.

A few years back Woodrows (on Chimneyrock) used to host several of the Houston Texas Exes events and there would be good UT crowds, but that may have changed.

BW3 is another good one, they too at times will host groups watching the UT games.

I think its carried on the ESPN college package. I have it here at home, and assume we will be one of the games they are showing. Most bars will have the package thus having the game.

Okay, chill out, typical arrogant UT fan, this is Houston, I know there are alot of grads and former students from, UT and A&M here, but there is no big 12 school in this city, so that's why Channel 51 might choose to show a Rockets game in the City of Houston, over the Big XII tourney.

Yes how arrogant of me to consider the feelings of the largest UT alumni base in the WORLD

Rockets fans have no other options like going to the game in person

Yeah, I know the Compaq center has about 1 million seats. We will all just go to the game. That's a sensable solution.

Dallas isn't that far from Houston...UT fans could drive up there too. Not that hard.

Compaq Center won't sellout Friday night. If you have basic cable, you have WGN (you can live with the Bulls broadcast for one night).

Channel 51 is the exclusive home to Big 12 hoops. If not 51, there is no one else.

There would be a problem of acquiring tickets and hotel rooms.

Negate my posts if the ESPN college package allows purchase of the UT game a la carte for home viewers.

They could make some serious money that way! Say $9.95 per game or $29.95 for the conf tourney.

BTW the entire season package was reasonable, and I caught some great games thru the year. This was my first time doing it, but I will be doing it again next year.

Note, I will get all the first two rounds of the Big Dance too.

Now that's a legitimate point, you can watch it on WGN. Still, this is Houston first, Big XII alumni home second. BTW, I went to UT, I still watch all of their games, I'm just being a realist.

BW3, Texadelphia, or the ever-ready standby Chez Hoo-ters would be ideal places to watch the game on Friday.

The tournament has been sold out for months. The Rockets on the other hand, have thousands of good seats remaining.

I'm guessing there won't be any scalpers.
