I'm finally going in mid-April. Last time I started this thread I ended up going to Belize which was pretty good, but not awesome. Most likely going to Buenos Aires, Santiago (Chile) and Vina Del Mar (Chile). Any place else I should be checking out? Going with a friend. Again, don't really wanna go to Columbia because I aint in the mood to get kidnapped. Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, etc.? Only going for a week. Where is the nicest beach in South America?
First of all its ColOmbia. Secondly, that is such an ignorant statement about being kidnapped. I don't blame you though. The stereotype, unfortunately, comes from those who have never even set foot in that country. I have traveled back and forth to all parts of Colombia for the last 2 years, practically living there. The country is beautiful, the women incredible, and the people are some of the most caring and loving you will find anywhere. Like all countries it has its problems but for Americans to be afraid to travel there because of fear of being "kidnapped" is pretty ridiculous. If you do decide to go visit Cartagena. The beaches are crystal clear and and it city itself is the perfect blend of romance and beauty. Also you should visit the Coffee Zone, cities such as Armenia and Pereira are breathtaking. There is so much beauty there.
You won't get kidnapped in Colombia. Unless you take a trip to the Jungles controled by the FARC, UAC, or Drug Lords. The cities are just like any other city in the US. If your in the souther cone I would say take a trip tthe triple frontier. Iguazu is nearby. Punta del Este in Uruguay rocks. Although it might be too cold when you go.
Bariloche in Argentina is very nice if you like mountains/lakes/forest. Buzios, about 150 miles north of Rio, is the St. Tropez of South America. But you go there to be seen so unless you specifically know other people going there's probably no point and you should hit the Venezuelan beaches instead. Paraguay is largely undeveloped and the people there speak a funny sounding musical Native American language called Guarani. I got bored as hell there but you might like it. Chilean chicks are for the most part fat and shy. Again, I got bored as hell there but you might like it. I've heard good things about Colombia.
First, Belize and Columbia are in Central America; not in South America. Second, my advice: Need I say more? Actually, I posted pics from my trip to Peru (Cusco and Macchu Picchu) a few weeks ago: Recent Trip To Peru Peru has beaches but I have no idea of they are any good or not...
Colombia is not in Central America, where did you take geography? I here Uruguay is nice. I know some Uruguayos, nice people, they recommend Punta del Este.
Once again guys its Colombia, and secondly it is in South America. However I do agree that Peru is a great place to visit. Machu Picchu is a new wonder of the world.
I agree with Punta Del Este, which is a beautiful place, but April might be a little late. You also have all those little islands off the coast of Venezuela.

I was in Peru last August. Also gets my vote. You want to go during our summer, which is their winter and also the dry season in Peru. If you're a remotely spiritual person, Machu Picchu will change your life. Its that amazing.
Just to clarify....I'm not spiritual in a religious sense. Well, not in a denominational sense, at least. I believe in a greater being and all that, even if said greater being only winds up being mother nature. Anyway. The Andes is effing stunning.
