Ok, I am looking for suggestions of where to go for a mini vacation without the kiddos. They do their annual trip to the grandparens and we do our annual, remember why we got married, vacation !! So far we have been to: Napa Vallay Lake Tahoe Boston Disney in Orlando Cancun We have also taken small weekend trips to: New Orleans Las Vegas So, we are looking for something different to do this year, any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, DD
Chicago in June during the Chicago Blues Festival is a blast. It's a free festival at Grant Park and is fantastic...
I went on a cruise to Cozumel from there.. had a total blast. I don't know if it'll live up to Lake Tahoe or Cancun though. I've never went to those places. It's a 4 days cruise.. I think all cruises are about the same days. So that would be perfect.
Couldn't pass up the rare chance for an obscure reference.... The old Canadian Railway Hotels might make an unexpected but nice, quite and romantic vacation. A couple of examples: http://www.fairmont.com/jasper/ http://www.fairmont.com/lakelouise/ They are giant old hotels out in the middle of the Canadian Rockies which were built to give people a reason to ride the railroad out to the middle of nowhere. They are a combination of amazing luxury and very wild nature. I believe that the hotel that was in the film, "The Shining" is another example of one of these.
I was going to suggest a cruise...my girlfriend brought it up to me today that she wants to do that, so it sounds like it could be a good time. I usually like to keep it warm and watery...Miami, San Diego, etc...
The Bitter End Yacht Club Very beautiful area. Tons of activities available. Romantic beaches that can be reached by hiking or boat. I had a blast going there in a family vacation type of setting, and I think it would be even better as a romantic getaway. You will probably be paying the top rates if you go in the summer months though.
I went to Seattle for 5 days a few years ago. Best trip I have been on bar none. Get the Go Seattle card. Great value on all the attractions you will want to see.
