I have some old VHS tapes that my parents recorded that has every family Christmas over a 10 year period when I was a kid. I'd like to get these converted to DVD and maybe give them to family members as a small Christmas gift. Any ideas on where I could go to get this done? How much does it cost?
You can do it yourself if you have a DVD burner. In the long run it would be cheaper than farming it out. Get your hands on a VCR. If your computer has inputs for composite audio/video, you are ijn great shape, otherwise you can buy a USB device which will allow you to hook up devices with composite cables. Check out "Dazzle". Once your videos are copied to your computer, simply copy them to DVD. If you want to pay someone to do it, check out camera stores (Ritz, etc). I had some old 8mm movies done there and they will copy them to Mini DV tapes and then on to DVD or you can simply take the Mini DV tape and save some money. The cost was reasonable (~$15)) because I only had one done.
