Where the bleep is the cheapest place to get airline tickets?

    Priceline used to be my go to place when I was flexible, I could often find them for 185 for relatively long flights. Now those bastids want to charge me 385 :mad: :mad: .

    Where is the best place to get them these days?

    I think Southwest Airlines serves both of those areas. Look on Southwest.com because you can always find a good deal there. From Little Rock to Houston and back to Little Rock only cost me $270 for two people. I don't think any of those searches look at Southwest prices. Go to http://www.southwest.com for the best deal.

    I just checked and you can get a ticket to the D.C. area from Portland and back for around half of that $745 you posted.

    Thanks Lil Pun, only problem is the flight time back on Sunday would leave me no time to go to Mass (Catholic).

    I believe their is a flight from Syracuse to DC for only 38$., but I don't remember which airline. If you can get to Syracuse cheap you might be able to grab it.

    whoa... i think half your problem is that you're trying to go right away.

    orbitz is pretty good if you plan a trip ahead of time. like with 2 or 3 weeks advanced notice i could get a round trip to and from boston to ft. lauderdale like 140 something only around 100.

    you are trying to go this weekend right? that's gonna be tough.

    also... what sometimes works is if you call the 800 numbers and talk to the rep... explain that you need cheap tickets... and they will run a search for you for the cheapest... sometimes they can access tickets not on these databases... but it also depends on who you reach, because some operators are very helpful and powerful and others just spit back priceline info at you.

    dunno why priceline is bad now... maybe because they have to pay kirk AND spock?

    I found decent prices as follows:

    I set up an account on yahoo, and on my portal page (where you can indicate stock tickers and stuff), I was able to put in a ticker for flight prices for specific flights.

    turns out, the prices changed a LOT during the day. I wasn't able to find cheaper prices anywhere on the net.

    Dude, DC to Portland is only 134$ on Independence Air. But you have to go Saturday.

    That's Portland Maine I think. Those guys don't seem to fly West of the Mississippi.
