Fellow fans! By way of open analysis, where can the Rockets start building consistency? Up until a couple of days ago they had not won 3 in a row or lost 3 in a row... a team with confidence in their game plan does not do this. They have extremely improved free throws (thank goodness). They have maybe 4 or so "go to" plays... oops up side the head to Katie.. Yao's high pick for Cuttino where he stops and pops just beyond the free throw line... Inside-out with Yao and Rice.. We have been using the picket fence for open 3 point shots starting with Yao's first pass out.. and where yao is passed the ball 2-3 feet in from the 3 point line, holds the ball up or away, and acts as a pick as steve or whoever whips around him, instantly becoming an open slasher that Yao will dish to every time. (We do ISO's and "post up your mand and take him yourself" stuff with steve and yao and crap but other than they rest of the team looking active to keep their man away from yao when he is posting up, these only involve one person and, as a fan of basketball, will never call these "plays.")

Good things to build off of: Most of these plays involve Yao! After all, he is the Dynasty. Milk Rice's shooting! Make em honest! turn them into good boys and then make them finish last!! Cuttino.. what can I say.. balla into a player. He's our blind side KO that teams can't focus on anymore. Morris has a touch, he is just tentative when he comes in for a few minutes. (other than dunking) They need to give him a "first shot." He needs to pick his best spot on the floor and they need to set just one play for him. If he hits, he's good for a few more shots from his choice, but if he doesn't hopefully he can get his first shot elsewhere because it's a confidence issue with him. Basically, I love the fact that we are loaded with talent and just learning how to use it! Inside defense is "all world!" keep it up, you can only get better!

Bad point that we hopefully move away from if they aren't "money." We should have Steve on opposite sides as Yao sometimes.. divide the beast and conquere. We should also give steve a few more looks... I mean.. He can flat out make it happen if you use him. (why we didn't just tell him to abuse stockton and let the other problems solve themselves just for this game.) Steve should always think pass to find the mismatch first but not when he has the mismatch! also.. if you can't teach one of the most gifted point guards how to play D, then find someone who can! If you watch, francis is trying, but it's like he doesn't know how.. bad defensive footwork and position.. everything.

There are not too many ideas I can come up with that Rudy hasn't already analyzed and I understand that most of this is due to a new system around a new player and they are learning. That being the case I'll phrase the question another way as well. Where do you see the Rockets building consistency? And when do you think they will "get it" ?

And feel free to argue points and give me feed back on what you think of my opinion but please, no attitudes.

Until they can defend good "4"s with some regularity, they're going to have trouble.

    Malone got 31?? ouch.
