OK. In the last 30 days I've sold my house in the Heights and just today closed on our new house in Cypress. Now I need to buy some stuff. Where is the best place to buy... (or best websites to research stuff like Home theater stuff or pool tables) Patio Furniture Pool Supplies Kitchen table and chairs Towels Shower Curtains & Bathroom accesories Matresses Childrens bedroom furniture A pool table Home theater equipment Thanks in advance.
Where in Cypress Voodoo? Check out Red Barn furniture over on Jones Rd.....they have decent stuff at decent prices
get an interior designer.....it's not as expensive as you think b/c he/she can usually save you 30% on furniture purchases, so the designing fees will be somewhat subsidized
There's a pool supply store on Jones between Cypress N Houston and 1960... It's near an Ace Hardware, IIRC... But then again, you can probably buy pool supplies from the Ace. For everything else, Willowbrook Mall. It's got just about every store in or near it that you'd need. JBII, you can always check out houston.craigslist.org you can always find something on there, if not for free, then hopefully for really cheap.
Sorry, forgot to mention you can go here to check out home theatre reviews: http://www.audioreview.com/ Personally I would say to stick with English makes such as Rotel, Arcam, and NAD. As far as speakers go, it's all personal. Make sure you listen to all the components and speakers linked together before you buy anything. All the pieces should match each other as far as far as clarity and brightness goes. For instance, a bright Rotel amp should not be matched to the usually bright B & W speakers. A more dull (also termed as 'warm') Marantz amp would do better with said bright B & W's. For mattresses...imo, the Swedish maker Duxiana is quite good. Chatham & Wells is a decent US maker.
Thanks for all the advice. I'm moving to Grant and Louetta in Lakewood Glen. After reading some of that home theater stuff I don't think I'm going to have the budget for the system I want for a while with all the other stuff I need to get. Guess I'll stick with the Yamaha home theater in a box we were using at our old house until I get some extra cash. We are going from 1430 sq ft. to 3450 sq ft so I have a lot of stuff I need. My kids are each going to have their own room which will be a first and I'm going to have more than one closet in the house... and a garage... which I'm going to refer to as "Dad's Sports Bar." Not to mention the extra bedroom, game room and much larger kitchen.
beware of Spring Cypress traffic in the mornings and afternoons Voodoo ......trust me btw ...over on Telge, not too far from you, there is an awesome familly style hamburger joint called P.O.'s .....I highly recommend taking the family there for food (place looks like a dump, but they have the best b burgers i've ever had)
where in the Heights did you live? My sis is looking for a house to buy. What location was it? Condition and price range? If you don't mind telling... Thanks!
My girlfriend does this so if you need some help I will hook you up. Email me at trey@mcglaunenterprises.com and I'll get you in touch.
voodoopope..... Lakewood Glen.. lots of my friends live there... great place to live. I would say congrats that your kids will get to go to Cy-Fair High School like me (like all my Lakewood Glen friends did), but by that time there will probably be a new high school in that area. Good choice in CFISD though. codell... I've never eaten at P.O.'s although I've always heard about it... yes ... shoot me
I lived on W. 17th between shepard and durham. My house was 1430 sq ft. Excellent condition on 3, 25 ft wide lots. Built in 1918, 2 br, 1.5 bath no garage and only 1 closet. 11 foot ceilings hardwoods through out. I bought 6 years ago for 129 and just sold for 199. I sold without realtors and cut them out of the picture. One block to the east and the house would have sold for 250+. My neighbor who bought it is an artist and has his studio behind the house next door. He is turning my house into an art gallery.
