Forget Mo's (outrageous) contract. He has always seemed to be a good teammate and an excellent scorer -- over anyone, anytime.

He may still be a good teammate, but he is MIA. His J is MIA. He is absolutely futile at this point.

There were summer sightings of Mo, in shape with his body and his game. Credible reports thereof.

Is he just in a slump? A funk over JVG? A funk over Howard? A funk over SF et al being gone? A funk over something else? Is he just flat out washed up, finished, kaput before his time?

Any great (and serious, please) insights anyone?

It looks like he is trying to hard. He does have a good mid-range shot, but those jumpers tonight were down right horrible.

Mo is shooting under 40% for the year, he has become a fouling and bricking machine.

The guy makes 2 stupid fouls every game.

In fact I wish the whole team would stop reaching ...the Spurs were in the penalty with 7 minutes to go...that will hurt a lot in most games.

As for Mo, his confidence is shot....teams are leaving him open from 15 feet and he is just missing badly.

We could really use his scoring right now.

I think he knows he is on the trading block and he doesn't want to be traded. So he is intentionally looking bad on the offense so his trade value goes below 0 and we can't move him. Does anybody have any better answer to why he is playing like he is?

if he doesn't watch it - he will be Derek Bell-ed (they will trade someone good and MAKE the other team take him as part of the deal)

I seriously think he knows he's on the block and is still trying to win games but not by scoring a lot of points or rebounding. Mainly playing riskier D so that he fouls a lot but on offense he is non existant.

He is even hesitating to try shooting open jumpers. It's due to a lack of confidence in making them. I expect him to do better with time but I think he will be inconsistent all year which obviously hurts us.

At the beginning of the season (like the first 10 games) his outside shot was actually pretty good. He even showed that he had expanded his game to the 3 pt line (hit two 3s against the wolves). Not sure what has happened to his offensive game since then. He was already a bad rebounder and defensive player. If his offense is bad as well then he is basically just hurting us when he is on the froor. I am hoping that with this stretch agaist East teams coming up (most east teams do not have strong PFs) he can get hs confidence back. We need his scoring and he should be able to score agaist other teams second stringers.

it looks like he's lost all his confidence. last years mo played with the confidence he could score on anyone at anytime, even if he was wrong, and also showed a pretty nice passing ability for his position. this years mo can't shoot anymore and looks more lost then yao is his first week as a rookie. i don't know what happened to the guy.

the thing i always think about is t-mac's comment about looking over his shoulder to see if van gundy was happy with his shot. it makes me think that the whole team probably feels that way. t-mac is obviously green-lighted now but i wonder if all this poor-shooting is partly a result of van gundy's intense micromanagement. guys just aren't comfortable all the time. then again mo played for him last year.

I thought MoT did a decent defensive job on Duncan last nite.

But he still make careless fouls and turns the ball over. Regarding his offense, MoT is a rhythm shooter (kind of like that Francis guy), with his black hole, one on one style. He's not good at catch and shoot and teams are shaming him into bricking 15 footers. On balance, Howard brings more...which is not saying very much.

On a happier note, WHAT A GREAT FINISH!! TMac is an incredible talent, not just offensively but in creating for others. It's the "others" that haven't shown up yet. We sorely need someone to emerge as a 3rd offensive option who can go off for 20 points occasionally. Would also like to see Sura assert himself more offensively.

Still HIGH from last nite:) - INCREDIBLE!!
