right now i think the rotation will be something like this: PG: Rafer / James SG: T-Mac / Head / James SF: Battier / Bonzi PF: Scola / Hayes C: Yao / Scola that would be a very solid 9 man rotation. i don't know where Francis fits because James can play the 1 and 2 better than Francis. When James moves to the 2 then Rafer will be the 1. I doubt Adelman will play Francis and James together without Rafer, and I really doubt Adelman would replace James with Francis for an extended amount of time. the only hope Francis has is if he gets Head's minutes but i doubt that because Head fits this offense so well and Adelman seems to think really highly of him. So...where does Francis fit?
I am not sure he does, which is weird, right? He might be the most athletic one of the bunch but with the lowest B -ball IQ.....which is a must.... It is going to be interesting to see if he plays. I mean minutes are going to be hard to come by.... tough problem for RA to solve. DD
Francis ahead of Head. James and Rafer split time. Rafer/James TMAC/Francis/Head Battier/Bonzi Scola/Hayes Yao/Deke Another problem is, Bonzi likes to play the 2, and would be more effective at the two. He showed that he struggled more when playing the 3. Oh well, that's why we're not coaches.
what makes you think Francis will be ahead of Head? the way i see it, when James plays the 1, Bonzi plays the 2, and Battier will be the 3. When James is the 2, Rafer plays the 1. Francis and James wont be on-court together because they are basically the same type of player, only James is much more effective.
Honestly i see francis as a charlie bell right now. 6'3, decent shooter, strong defender, can play 1,2 and a small 3. He can back up multiple positions but obviously isnt a starter in this system. He's an energy player off the bench. as far as where he's gonna find minutes, i say the back up 1 and 2 being the third option on each of those. I think he's gonna serve as a secret weapon on the bench for us this year.
Adelman's got a really big problem...Man I don't even know what would I do if I were him Let him solve it. I know one thing - I wanna see SF#3 playin'
Based on what I've seen this preseason, I wouldn't play Francis over Head, Head its a much more solid perimeter shooter, and Francis doesn't bring terribly much to the table in terms of cutting and penetration. Head has seemed to read the cuts spectacularly well while Francis has lost a step or two when he's driving to the basket.
It's only been two preseason games. But from what I saw steve played better than headand he's kinda like our mascott. I don't envy rick right now. No matter what he does there will still be fans that are not happy.
im confident adelman will know who's the right person to put on the court. if we're winning then everyone will be happy.
Rafer is familiar with our players so he knows their spots better, whereas Francis hasn't palyed with these players nor has he played in this system. I would like to see Francis get more acclimated and not just toss him aside after a few preseason games. He's still one of our most explosive players in our supporting cast and I get the feeling that he can score 25 points on some nights when he's hot. Maybe Battier's minutes will be reduced, as well as Tmac's (to conserve him for the playoffs)....we do this for a few months and some guys will emerge. It was interesting in that game that our 3 point guards each had around 4-5 assists each and accounted for 30 plus points even though none of them played the full 40 minutes. I would really like to see the Steve Francis story have a happy ending. The guy's been through enough in Houston already.
I think Francis starts the season on the bench. He'll get his chance when someone is injured. I don't think Francis fits well on this team, or any other team where he won't dominate the ball. I like his personality, I like that he's competitive. I don't particularly like his style of play; he needs too many dribbles to find his shot and he is extremely prone to turnovers. He's also possibly the worst guard in the league at running a fast break. If Steve has a role on this team, it will be as a sort of Weapon X. Game plan isn't working at all? Throw Francis in there and let him dribble the air out of the ball for a while. He might cross a couple of guys up and force the defense to adjust. I don't think he'll adapt well to this offense, however, as he's proven that the only "gameplan" he excels in is the one in which he controls the ball for the majority of the shot clock.
If anyone thinks that the we know where anyone other than Yao and TMac fit after 2 preseason games, they are nuts.
where does francis fit...he fits with snyder...athletes without a high bball iq. cant play both for sure. francis will have to fight for minutes. is head better than francis at the 2g? francis needs to handle the rock to feel a comfort level
