If there's another thread on this, please redirect me. But I'm genuinely curious. After tonight, I can't see Williams re-signing with the Nets. There's just not enough ammo for them to get Howard, even if Dwight says he won't re-sign with anyone but Brooklyn. Even if it's a one-year rental, someone will outbid Brook Lopez and junk. And there's no reason for Williams to commit his future to the Nets if they don't have a chance to acquire Dwight or another star player. (They don't, due to lack of assets.) I know Deron is from greater Dallas and the Mavs have room... but they have a VERY aging core and no ability to land Howard via trade. Perhaps they could try and sell Deron on signing Dwight the next summer, but if you're Deron, would you really risk the prime of your career on the whim of Howard and whether he holds his word for a full 12 months? I sure as hell wouldn't. If I had to bet, I'd say he ends up NOT in Dallas or Brooklyn. Maybe a Laker, with Bynum going to NJ or a third team (with draft picks going to NJ)? Overall, I'd say the Deron sweepstakes is wide open. Highly doubt he'd sign with Rockets, but it at least gives Morey a puncher's chance.
I really hope Houston doesn't waste their time going after Deron this summer, waiting to resign Dragic and pissing him off in the process.
They did, but Howard isn't a free agent until next summer and they have no assets to trade for him this summer. Given all that's happened, I don't see how anyone could trust Howard to hold to his word for 12 months, even if he tries to make a "wink-wink" deal.

Nope. And Deron and Howard going to the Mavs is a pipedream. Even if they got rid of everyone but Dirk, they still wouldn't have cap room.
The nets are going to trade for Zach and then resign brook. Deron isn't going anywhere with that 17 million dollar player option.
