I love this board and part of the reason is that I get perspectives from so many different sides. Agreeing/disagreeing sides, happy/angry sides. I was sitting at my desk this morning and I really need to complete this very important assignment, involving a very complicated task-oriented database that needs to be modified to be faster and take up less space. So then I asked myself, "Where can I get some inspiration?". Then it dawned on me that this board has an assortment of diverse intelligent people spread throughout the world. Being Rockets fans, we are the smartest. No doubt about it. Where do you get your inspiration? Personally, for me it depends on the challenge. Here is a list of some recent sources: - Bible passages and parables. - Emmet Fox books. Mostly for spiritual reinforcement. - Music (Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains most recently) - Movies - The underlying plot and surrounding characters. - The signs on the side of the road while driving. - The themes of the discussions on this board. - The way people around me interrelate. - The way my new kittens act - Songs on the radio at the time that I am feeling strong emotions on some things. - Good will and perserverance. Not just about the Rockets, but also those around me. - Current events, though not often. Of course I quit drinking and smoking recently, so could I just be delirious? How about you? What gives you your creative energy?
I get inspiration from just about anything, but normally I hear a phrase or have a random thought that is inspiring. But I also find inspiration from my family and my fiance and my friends. Really it depends on what I need to be inspired to do.
Day job - impossible to get inspired by anything besides having money to pay my mortgage.... Night job - listen to any music with a good drummer. I would list them, but that's another thread.
Best motivator for a married/family guy: love Best motivator for a single guy: sex Close runners-up for everyone else on earth: money or power more specifically, though... The best way that I get myself motivated is to... 1) create a written schedule of what I need to do. 2) make a promise to someone that I will do the job at a specific time 3) put money in it. If I pay for the appointment, I will show up. Music affects my mood but doesn't really motivate me. In fact, sometimes it's distracting.
watching people give more of themselves than is expected watching people put others in front of themselves watching people forgive music scripture stories in all sorts of formats and you guys know I'm a Jesus freak, so I believe the source of all that is God.
