It's not just a song, it's a way of life for Rockets fans. Everybody post your plan for what needs to happen to turn this team around by next season. New coaching? Break up Steve/Cat? Move Griffin? Completely blow up the team? Or will a new arena and respectable uniforms be the cure?
Personally, we need a REAL coach, one that does things in a semi-normal "that makes sense" manner. None of this sitting Yao and Steve 8 minutes at a time so Moochie and Cato can turn it over and clank shots. How about a coach who puts Posey, one of our best defensive players, in during the 4th quarter? I'm tired of Larry Smith's Glen "Weak at the Knees" Rice infatuation. The man isn't even hitting 3 pointers anymore. It's over.
Bring in a new coach and deal Mobley for a decent point and a pick. And for God's sake, do something with the forward position. Figure out if Griffin is trash or what! And re-sign Posey. Then the new uniforms will take care of the rest and it's a Championship team.

Nothing short of a complete overhaul is acceptable. The only difference between us and the Clippers is that our owner doesn't have the excuse of being a tightwad...

Cato, Taylor, Moochie, and Steve's albatross contracts are immovable right now...all underachieving and all overpaid. There isn't much that Dawson can do, though he got the Rockets in this situation by giving out big contracts to anybody...

Number one offseason priority: Keep Yao Ming in the states!!! The Rockets' hopes lie in Yao Ming becoming a dominant player/the best player at his position. He needs rest from a hectic basketball schedule, continued weight training, endurance training, improved footwork (he really needs to learn to use his feet to get better explosiveness), work on post up moves, work on rebounding, etc.

Yao won't be getting those things if he has to spend the off season working with the Chinese national team. I don't care if he has to compete in a tournament for a few weeks. But the guy needs to be in Houston for the bulk of his off season training.

Any other changes, coaching or other wise, are secondary to improving Yao Ming.

We go home and dwell on it and learn from it...

Oh...only people who give a damn would do that...

I agree with A-Train, short of a major overhaul around Stevie and Yao is a joke...

You need to get rid of the trash and bring in people who care about the team and not individual roles...The Rox need to consider being stuck with some $$$ just to get rid of the bad elements...

Good call, I would start with this. I've been concerned about his off season for a long time. Don't know if we can do anything about it, though.

Uh, we could use a power forward who is a power forward, shooters who can shoot. We could start there, I guess. (sigh)

    1. A strategic coach who can better utilize our players in offensive schemes and knows how to manage starters/bench minutes.
    2. Upgrade the bench!
    3. Trade Cat for a point who distribute the ball better. Someone like Eric Snow. Let Steve and Posey play the 2&3.
    4. Make something happen with the 4 position. Give Griffin his last chance to improve.
    5. Improve Yao's athleticism and strength.
    6. Get Yao the damn ball!

I'm tired of hearing this notion that Steve isn't a max contract player. No matter how you feel about him, Steve's contract is in-line with the way the CBA is set up. Every team, in theory, has a max contract player. There should, in theory, be 29 max contract players in the league. Steve is in the top 29 players in the league, no matter how you feel about him. Not only that, there are more than a few teams that if Steve was on their roster and not removing anyone else, he would be the best player. Miami, Denver, Golden State, Cleveland, Chicago, maybe New Orleans, Atlanta, and arguably Toronto and Memphis.

    CBA?

Anyway, it is not clear if Steve contract is justified. Maybe in a few years we will know. But right now Stevie looks like a role player to me. But I will not begrudge him - he has good timing (as in coming here in time to get the Max). I believe if he came 2 or 3 years after Yao, he will or may not have gotten this present deal he is about to start enjoying.

CBA=Collective Bargaining Agreement. Steve's contract is justified, he was the best player on the team when he got, no one knew how good Yao was going to be, and third, if he has to be traded when Yao's contract comes up, I guarantee he'll be able to be moved because his contract isn't out of line.
