I remember in a recent episode Lisa said that even though they never stated where they lived it was possible to find out from all the clues they dropped. Anyone have any ideas?
Apparantely, in another episode of Behind the Laughter, another state is mentioned, so I suppose that Kentucky is not the state teh Simpsons live in. Rhode Island -- Because Moe's Liquor licence is only good in Rhode Island Texas -- Because no jury in the world would convict a baby... Well, maybe Texas. Florida -- Because Florida is America's wang. Missouri -- Springfield Elementary was voted to be the most delapatated in all of Missouri. Then moved to its current location brick by brick Utah -- Because when Bart got caught for the Big Butt Skinner weather balloon, he wanted to race Milhouse there. Massachusettes-- Because Homer once said "Go back to Massachusetts, you communist." Mississippi -- In the episode when the Simpsons were visited by Sherry Bobbins, Principal Skinner was selling Jimbo on the street. Jimbo asked if it was even legal, and Skinner replied "Here, and in Mississippi." Delaware -- "The Simpsons are going to Delaware" -- Homer California-- There is no Springfield in California Pennsylvania-- While talking about Pennsylvania, Homer says "Pennsylvania" it in a creepy voice. Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, New York, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Alabama, Wisconson, Kentucky, Tennessee -- KBBL is the springfield radio station. Radio stations that begin with K are West of the Mississippi river, W are East of the Mississippi river, C are Canada, and X are Mexico. Therefore the simpsons must live in the west half of the country Arizona -- Because Arizona smells funny New Mexico -- "There's a NEW Mexico?" -C.M. Burns South Dakota -- Because Mt. Rushmore is in South Dakota North Dakota -- "North Dakota here we come!" Arkansas, Louisianna -- In the episode where the simpsons were discussing the fact that their state flag is inappropriate, it is mentioned that they are a "Northern State" These are reasons why the Simpsons CANNOT live in the states above
Matt Groening was once quoted as saying they live in the fictional state of North Tacoma. The fact is that the writers intentionally put conflicting information about the location into the show. It's just a big joke. Springfield isn't based in ANY state.
Well that just ruined my day and life ....i tried so hard to figure out where those damn Simpsons live!! Godamn North Tacoma!!
Actually Matt Groening also alluded to it being in Oregon. He grew up just a few miles away from his rival city Springfield in, you guessed it, Shelbyville.
It is something the public will probably never know. Even if we figure it out, they just tease us by never really giving us a straight answer. Just like the question of Smithers sexuality.
I don't know if Smithers sexuality is realy debatable. If anything, they try and confirm it more and more every season.
KBBL is in Little Rock, Arkansas. No help there. With the big forest and everything, Oregon makes sense, not to mention the hippies and the seashore. Of course they really don't live in any state, as there is no state whose capitol is Capitol City (I think they said it was the state cap)
