Has anyone heard anything about our last draft pick Malick Badiane? Will we ever see this guy play?

He went over to Europe to learn how to play. The Rockets knew when they signed him that he was undeveloped and that it would be a longshot for him to get into the NBA anytime soon. They drafted him based on raw skills and size - don't get too excited about a second round pick like him.....unless it happens to be CUTTINO MOBLEY who kicks ass!

Thanks. I was looking at some old pages on espn and that name came up. I totally forgot about the guy. Maybe I have a soft spot for players from Africa. The last one we had was pretty good!!!!

Last i remember hearing was that he wasn't getting much playing there, either. I think the team has someone better that plays his position.

He's currently averaging 2.5 points and 4.6 rebounds for the Opal Skyliners in Germany. Doesn't look like the furture is too bright for him in a Rockets uni.

He's currently saving Winabi from being leveled by a rival village. Meanwhile, he's being taught the "Jimmy Dolan shake 'n bake."

Yes, but those meager stats are deceiving. Sure, he only averages 2.5 points for the Opal Skyliners, but if he was in the Eastern Conference he'd be averaging 14 and 9.

every month there's a thread like this... i think there should be a place either on the official website or this site devoted to the progress of our prospects.

I like his hustle... i think if we could just get him to be bigger thats all that is really needed ffor him IMO.. it would take prolly forever to get as a superstar or great athlete. but if he can just turn his body into Ben Wallace.. and with his hustle.. rebounding will do him just great.

    He's 6-11?

I thoguht he was like 6-9...

Yeah I remember from the great summer league reports that he was athletic and fast and hustled...and I downloaded those great video clips..and he did make some free throws! His stats don't look too great..he is playing soccer? Man United?

I like him...but he is just a 2nd round pick. But...it would be nice if he can surprise us all!

Right now we are doing okay with Yao, Cato, Taylor, Weatherspoon, and Padgett. Good thing we got rid of Amaechi. :)

Watch...our big men are gonna do horrible against the Mavs. ;)

Malick is doing well. I spoke with him about a month ago. He is playing for the Opel Skyliners in Frankfurt, Germany. He is not starting. This has more to do with politics, than his ability. While he is seeing decent playing time, he does not get to start because the Coach and GM in Germany know he is not around long-term. The Rockets have had an international scout at most of his games, and it sounds as though they are pleased with his progress.

Following the season, he will return to the United States and train in Cleveland (same place he trained last summer) for 6-8 weeks before going to Houston. At that point, the Rockets will decide if they are going to sign him. Right now, it looks like they want to, but I guess we won't know for sure until he is back on American soil.

i don't know anything about him but he sounds like a bo outlaw kinda guy. give him time, i'd rather he be playing in europe than sitting behind boki and pike.

Thanks O. You are seemingly the only one around here who know what they are talking about.

An at times awkward Bo Outlaw is a good analogy. His motor is non-stop. Chris Bosh tore him a new one in summer league play.
