No, but would you bet anything on Yao averaging 20/12/3 through the month of December?

I created the #5 for Odom talk. At #1, I created the Odom and Kandi for #1 and Cato talk.

Don't act like I suddenly went into the dark and decided to rid the world of myself.

Where's the "KT can do anything" people now that the KT being a SF project FAILED?

I think Cuttino was the only person that wanted Odom. :)

On a side note. Do ya'll think there is a way to get him this off season. There is not way Sterling is going to pay all those players, so he has to let some of them go. Can we afford to offer him a MCE? Can or will any team offer more than that?

What have you gotten yourself INto, Sane? ;)

I thought Kenny was playing PF because the other two guys weren't playing as well? Uh, MoT just isn't playing, so maybe that's not fair.

Until Odom plays a long stretch uninjured the way he's capable of, the Clippers should be happy with Mooch and a tube of Pringles to be named later.

(j/k, but is Odom EVER going to be himself again?)

I would trade Yao for Odom now.

They also throw in Kandi, Brand, Miller, and the next 15 years worth of #1 picks.

More and more I am thinking Odom might be a guy really worth rolling the dice with. A point forward who thinks pass first but can score if open and go to the hole might be a perfect compliment. Who says a center and a three can't be the best passing players on an effective team. Odom would be a risk, but it shouldn't cost anywhere near his potential because he has played so little over the last 15 months or so due to a variety of reasons.

Of course I was never that enamored with Odom or Kandi--any deal with the #1 with the Clips I discussed started with Brand and went up from there (Brand + Odom or Magette or Miles or the like). People thought I was crazy sayng just Brand wasn't enough for this years #1 pick (rights to their choice of Ming/JW).

I was for trading BOKI and KT for ODOM. But not MING. I do feel like I'm confessing, but I didn't even commit the "sin" of wanting to trade MING. I knew Ming would be this good, because I am smart.

I do recall ROCKET!!! stating that we could have Brand, Odom and Curry for Ming through a myriad of trades with LAC and CHI. I was on record as stating that Ming wasn't THAT good, but it looks like I was wrong on that one, he may actually turn out to be THAT good. I guess I'm not all that smart afterall....

    PROCEED...I've confessed.

Only if they add Brand and A. Miller under long-term contracts. (I know, Gater, it won't work under the cap rules, but I don't want it to work anyway.)

I wanted odom and kandi for # 5-# 7. I was looking to raid the Clips roster all last season. I'm ecstatic we lucked into the # 1 and got Yao, instead. I still want Odom and would pay a good price for him. He's a very good fit for this team, would help in many ways.

I think the late TroyBaros was a big proponent of such a trade as well.

Odom can really change this team if he is able to stay healthy. That's a big if, but it may be worth the risk.

Problem is, there's nothing the Clippers want that we have. We dont have a pick next year. Would they do Boki for Odom?

Talent for potential. Like Chandler for Brand. Odom has injury questions and Boki has "playing out potential" questions.

I dont think that once people really got to see Yao in the lengthy video clips that anyone was really in support of making the deal. The speculation by myself and others was before getting a real lengthy look at Yao; based on what the scouting reports, articles etc stated about his game. I think once people got a lengthy look at Yao, about 99% were ok with the pick except Barros.

Also, if Yao had not developed this fast, this team would be nowhere near the 13-10 mark it is at now. If it really was going to take 2 plus yrs like the initial reports stated (which were proven to be a crock) this team would be headed for lottery year #4. The new NBA defenses have really dulled the effectiveness of the previous guard based offense and luckily Yao has been developing quickly to counterract that. This team is not playoff material without Yao.

    I don't know MManal,

Cato was pretty damn good at the beginning of the season. We probably wouldn't be 4th, but I definitely could see us at 8th. This team would've made the playoffs with or without Yao Ming. But what Yao Ming has done is changed this team into a future contender and current darkhorse in the league.

    Sane,

We'll agree to disagree on that point. The only time the offense has had any semblance of continuity is when Yao is involved and making the decisions. When Yao isnt involved, this team just does not do a very good job of playing as a team, and the offense stagnates. The advent of zone defenses has really caused the iso oriented guard sets to become less useful and this team just would not have had the savvy enough talent to adjust.

Odom is excellent, when healthy. When clean. In theory ??? a deal MIGHT HAVE been Odom and #8 for #1 and a salary cap equalizer.

In the Association, in multiple player deals, the team which gets the ONE player beats the team which gets the MULTIPLE players.

    To be historically correct...

It was never Yao Ming + for Odom... It was Odom + for Ming (#1), and the plus was at least the #8 overall, possibly another lotto pick as well (#12). Based on Clutch's reports, it's quite likely we would've drafted Stoudemire at 8. Anyone's guess what happens at 12. If Odom were healty (big if), I don't think anyone would be upset about having Stoudemire and Odom.

How many people thought Yao would get this good, this quick?
