not a knee jerk reaction...but it's obvious that we're gettin buried deeper...how can this team recover if a trade is not made soon? lets say that we get Melo, it would be very difficult for hium to carry this team back to contention again..losing would make it difficult for us to resign him...prayin and crossin my fingers.

    It takes 2 to tango.

DM's working the phones, but there's no sense in acting out of desperation.

His hands are tied at the moment.

This far from the deadline, you're not going to find many teams making fair offers. See, Denver wanting five first rounders. It's obvious this team lacks the talent to seriously contend. But do you want to panic and overpay for a big man to salvage a season were at best a 7th seed in?

Morey will make a deal, but it'll probably be a lot closer to the deadline so he can get a better deal. A lot of teams don't even know if they are buyers or sellers yet.

Les should bring in Kubiak to explain better. "we're going with the guys we got.. (until the trade deadline)"

In response to the title, probably when his alarm goes off.

In response to the panic, it's not like Morey has made some tremendous failure in the last 3 weeks. This is the same team we were all so excited about in September. Sometimes it doesn't work out. When that happens, you continue to improve the team and try and turn things, or you rebuild with a plan. You DON'T have a fire sale because you're 4 games under .500.

i feel that if morey dishes out what it takes to get melo, he will have to bring in some other key players to make sure we are contenders. it's not worth it to dish out all our assets to just get a 1 yr rental of melo and get knocked out the first round

I think DM has known all along, apparently some of the fans were a little slow in figuring it out.

We are not contenders, and we are hoping to get a Superstar, we are in limbo until one breaks loose or develops here.

JVG said it best during the game. The Rockets need star power and the teams that do have them, aren't willing to give them up. Morey is doing the best he can with the hand he's been dealt. You can't blame him for other teams not wanting to trade their super stars. And even if we tank and get a lottery pick, there is no guarantee that pick will develop into super star material. If that happens, well we're right back to square one. Is Morey accepting mediocrity and a border line .500 team? I highly doubt it. He's doing what he can with what he's got.

Waiting for a superstar to break loose? Why not tank while we're waiting? Wouldn't offering a top five pick increase our chances of acquiring that franchise player we need?

I'll tell you where we're heading, we're heading towards no playoffs with nothing to show for it other than a bottom rung lottery pick.

I'm really confused, who on this forum actually thought Houston was a contender without Yao Ming this year? Who thought we were a contender once Chuck went down last week?

Come on guys, don't be homers be objective. I came into this season wanting to see how they showcased our young talent to be traded Feb 24. This season was ALWAYS and has always been about next year. Look at the draft picks, decision on AB, Yao, Battier at the end of this season... All signs that next year is when the efforts of these deals comes to pass. My worry isn't how they played tonight, it's whether Brooks will get back to 100% soon enough so we can get a great value for him. That's my main worry!

At best we were going to upset a team in the first round... We were never condensers as is... Morey knew it... Les knew it... Etc. If they didn't they wouldn't have been trying to get under the luxury cap with the J Taylor move.

DaDakota's post above shocked me because I agree 100% but I'm surprised that needed to be said. I'm waiting on Morey's trades and I can be patient lol this team ain't going noooo where anytime soon lol

I was never excited. Knew thos would happen as soon as people started pinning their hopes on Yao being back to form. Had to know this was gonna happen. Weird they actually tried to play Yao instead of trade him while he was healthy. Real weird.

In September, this team had Yao Ming, Aaron Brooks and Chuck Hayes.

Teams know we are desperate at the moment so I'm sure Daryl is getting raped when he calls to inquire about trades. Good thing about having a thrifty GM so we don't get f'd for being over anxious.

Well, Melo won't take this team to contention. Really, no one whom we could actually obtain in a trade would. Only a dominant low-post player could, given the nature of this team (ie. Yao Ming, but whatever), but there isn't one on the market.

Consequently, there's no reason to panic and trade for a big man and screw ourselves over in the process.

Yes it does. Tanking 2-3 seasons and getting top 5 picks increase that chance as well. Are fans willing to be crap for 3 years?

Minny and Memphis has had top 5 picks last 3-4 times. The thing is they dont have the execs and staff that we do. Give this opportunity to Morey and he will shine. Morey will have similar success to Presti and the Thunder.

Its too late to build and improvise as we go like we are doing now. Its time to Re-Build.
