I know how good of a defender rafer is and the guy runs the point better than anyone else on our team; but I cant stand our opponents playing defense on 4 players and leaving Rafer wide open to brick a 3. We have lost so many valuable shot opportunities when Rafer makes like 1/5 shots. I believe Brooks brings so much more to the table. He can drive in at lighting fast speed, hit the 3-ball efficiently and more importantly this guy is clutch....
I don't think he ever will. Brooks is too valuable off the bench as a scorer. As long as Rafer isn't jacking up a bunch of shots I don't mind him starting, especially if he has to find shots for Artest, Yao and McGrady. But one thing is for sure, Brooks needs to play ALOT of minutes. I see a Kenny Smith/Sam Cassell thing happening here.
I like Brooks off the bench because he gives us instant offense, but I like him closing with the starters.
never, he isn't a starting PG. I love him at a starting SG in the future, but i think he's not ready to take on Rafer's duties (haha, i said "duties"). I'm not saying rafer is an all-star, far from it, but he's still edging out Brooks. And now to follow a post by BrooksBall about how I'm an idiot, in 3,2,1...
What are you complaining about? Rafer took only 5 shots and had 10 points. He split the PG minutes about evenly with AB. This is EXACTLY what we want him to do. He needs more games like tonight to make up for the stink bombs he had the first 4 games. Adelman even had the good sense to let AB play the last 10 minutes of regulation and the entire 5 minute OT. Who gives a flip who the starter is? AB played the crunch time minutes, which is what counts. This season, AB probably will not be ready to handle 30+ minutes every game as a starter. Coming off the bench and increasing his minutes is the correct thing to do.
I love Brooks' game, but at the moment he is still making some really bad decisions. He needs to practice on his post entry pass and on his decision making. Sometimes he is so fast that he rushes to the middle and gets trapped. At other times, he just takes some bad shots that aren't necessary.
