OnHoops.com brought up the point that they think the yearly injuries to Barkley and Olajuwon might help the team get back on track. "Everybody's sitting here going "man, the Houston Rockets are 2-10, how are they going to survive when Barkley and Hakeem get their annual injuries?" but we think that's exactly what Houston needs to get them back on track. The Rockets always and only win when the odds are against them and everybody's writing them off. Last season, they had talent in bunches and it wasn't working. This season, same. They need something to catalyze the crystals of ability they currently have just sitting around in the dirt. If Hakeem or Barkley were to go down now, this would very likely be the bonding act necessary for Rudy T to get all these kids on the same page, to focus on the one goal, and to come together like the great Houston Rockets teams of old and triumph against all expectations. He'd better do something, because Houston is already 8½ games out of first place in the West, and with 8 teams above .500, it's going to be difficult to turn things around and make the playoffs after this horrid start. There are enough chump teams in the league to make it possible, and Houston could get hot at any time and go on one of their ridiculous runs where they go unbeaten for a month, but so far this season it's not been pretty. And if they lose at home to Dallas tonight, it'll get a lot worse..." I think the injuries would put an end to our season. I disagree.
