    ... that a team with 4 HOF-bound players on its roster looked like it might actually miss the playoffs?

    I spent the last half hour researching this and what I came up with is the 1976-1977 Knicks. Frazier, McAdoo, Monroe, Bradley (and phil jackson was inducted as coach, so technically 5 :p)

    I read in a tweet somewhere that the western conference average in the last three full seasons the 8th seed averaged 48 wins. The Lakers must go 39-21 to get to that mark.

    They seriously are at risk of not making the playoffs.

    Especially when you factor in that Steve Nash is still at least two weeks out (and then he might need another two or three weeks to get back to his usual level). They might have to win above 70% of their games from that point till the rest of the season, just to make the playoffs.
