I'm sorry for starting another thread, but when the **** is autumn going to get here? That's my favorite season of the year.. the sky has this orange tinge to it late in the afternoon, crisp cool air, not enough for a jacket, buy maybe a sweater... the leaves. Oh my god, what the ****, Houston!!!!! Stop being so god damn hot and rainy!!! Autumn I love you! Who else loves autumn? It kind of makes you want to go back and visit your parents, to taste mom's homemade pumpkin pie, but then you remember you can barely stay in the same room with them, so you dont. Please, God, let Haloween be a little cold this year.
I said the same thing today as my family was outside shooting baskets and riding our bikes. I was dripping buckets of sweat....ridiculously humid and hot here in Austin. Ugh ! DD
Is there some specific reason for the humidity this late in the year? I dont remember it being like this last year ( at this time).
Farmer's Almanac - almost perfect when it comes to predicting weather - says the second week of November brings the first cool weather to Texas. There was a story in the Chron about this weather last week. There is a large area of high pressure in the Gulf keeping fronts from moving this far south. It will take the first really strong cold front to push it out meaning we'll probably go from 80's to 50's in the span of hours. This happens about once every 3 or 4 years. Never fear, though. It is expected to be a much colder winter than usual despite the delay with several "blue" northers expected through Texas this winter. That's arctic air meaning some damn cold weather at some point.
Jeff, That is what I am afraid of, we go straight from 80s to 50s.... I love the pacific fronts that knocks us down into the 50s at night and the 70s during the days. From Oct 1st through Mid November is the best weather in Texas...generally speaking....not this year though... DD
Ain't there supposed to be an Armadillo that comes out of its hole and if it sees its shadow, we have 2 more weeks of SUMMER?
Well, it's on target. I remember dressing up as an Aggie for Halloween 4 years ago and dripping sweat as I was walking through Hyde Park getting laughs from everyone. It sucks BTW. I specifically bought a black sweater for a bachelorette party I have on the 30th. I'm going to be burning the F*** up!
What is this "Autumn" thing you are referring to? Ask a Houstonian about the four seasons, and he'll think you're talking about the hotel. -- droxford (native Houstonian)
about zero celcius...with a foot of snow sitting on the ground right now in red deer, alberta...where i'm goin to school.
I'm with you, brother. People who move to Houston and then complain about the heat when it's snowing in other parts of the country are missing the point.
Exactly. I am like "Heat Miser" from the Year Without a Santa Claus - I never like to go outside on a day where it is less than 50 degrees. I rather have it 80, 90, 100 degrees!
You guys are crazy! I am counting the days until the first Arctic front comes through. I can't wait! The colder the better.
You mean the day it gets down to 50 degress and Channel 2 News does their whole "team coverage" thing on "Winter Blast 2004"???
