When is the decision day for the Rockets to finalize the roster, and do you think there will be any final cut surprises?
I admit, I had this guy on IR at best. Now, what do you do with Boki? IR? If we keep Yao Ming, Cato, Steve, Cat, Mooch, Torres, Tito, MT, EG, Rice and KT... that leaves 1 active roster spot. It's TMo vs. Boki. That's going to be interesting...
I think the Rox would rather have TMo AND Boki rather than Tito. We wouldn't have a problem if we shipped KT off for a draft pick, or packaged him and Mooch for a defensive 2/3.
It will be a tough decision. I can see Boki playing occasionally if Tito is on IR, but Tito has a guaranteed contract this year and he plays both guard spots. He also is a good defender. Boki could still play with the team and gain experience. It's a tough call, made so by TMo's improvements!
The biggest cut will probably be Tierre Brown. IMO, the IR will be Boki, Mickeal and Collier. All the rest that are cut didn't stand a chance anyhow. Brown will latch on elsewhere. The first game is October 30th so it has to be close to that.
Im going to go with...Oscar Torres. I think he is gifted athletic player, but we already have truck load of them on this team. The same goes with Teirre Brown, we need some defensive oriented players.
The last preseason game is the 25th and the season starts on Tuesday the 29th. I would think Sunday night the 27th would be the deadline...
My guess: Francis, Mobley, Rice, Taylor, Yao, Griffin, Thomas, Cato, Morris, Norris and Nachbar for sure. Last spot goes to Maddox or Torres. I'm guessing Maddox. Either of these guys can play the ten minutes at backup 2, but Maddox can play point too. IR: Collier, Torres or Maddox, and maybe Brown.
I don't think Brown will want to stay on reserve, he can get on another team as a backup and be able to get some PT. If that's true it Mickeal would take the IR spot. Too bad, I like Tierre's game, we are just loaded. It really comes down to 5 guards or 4 guards. Steve, Cat, Mooch are in. Tito and Torres are on the bubble if he goes with 4. Tito is guaranteed a year so he'll be around. I think Rudy likes Torres' game though and Tito needs more work and polish. That fits IR (see Langhi, Collier) If we keep both Tito and Torres then it's Boki or TMo. Is Boki going to be the new Langhi on IR? After further anaysis my money says Torres, Boki and TMo are in, and Mickeal, Tito, and Collier are IR.
Here are my roster picks, until of course, any "real" injuries occur that may change the situation. (in no particular order) 1. Cato 2. Yao 3. Taylor 4. Griffin 5. Thomas 6. Rice 7. Boki 8. TMo 9. Mobley 10. Francis 11. Norris 12. Tito - makes it - I agree with the two position argument. IR - Collier, TBrown, Torres We will get to see what Rudy is thinking over the remaining preseason and he does seem to like multiposition players.
I think you are correct with the exception of T-Brown. That IR spot will -- just a hunch now -- go to Mickeal.
