Hakeem Olajuwon , Patrick Ewing , In 1994 this was the best Matchup in the NBA , every seat in the Summit or MSG was sold out to watch The NBA's best centers , Patrick Ewing then Great jump shooting center who was on top of his game . Lead team to the Finals Patrick Ewing Now A Seattle Sonic who was held scoreless in a game and is being outshadowed by Youngsters Hakeem Olajuwon then Sports Illustrated's Best Move in the NBA was Hakeem Olajuwon's Dreamshake , Won Two Titles , MVP awards , Defense Poy and one of the most respected men in the NBA Hakeem Olajuwon now On the Injured list , Knees giving out , Demanding a trade if anyone wants him , Some belive he should have retired after 1998-99 . The overall point is that Hakeem Olajuwon is just an example of what Greatness can turn into , Unlike Michael Jordan and John Elway Who quit well they were ahead . And how painful for Fans would it be to see Hakeem Olajuwon suiting up for any team other than the Rockets . ------------------ Dont Go Hakeem

Man, the subject of this thread scared the hell out of me, but I clicked it anyway. Umm... Hakeem's been in the league too long, Patrick's been in the league too long, Barkley should have been able to hang around longer, Jordan did it right, etc. ------------------ "I personally don't think Jordan would have enjoyed playing with himself." -- JeffB lets us all know that Popeye and Clutch aren't the only ones with inside sources... As long as you can remember the glory days, seeing them now should not be painful. They are still great players, just enjoy it all. Who cares if they are not exactly the same as they used to be, they are still a lot of fun to watch. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Hopefully after this season someone will find a cure for Robert Parish disease so Dream can end his career. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams fan club. Web site coming soon atheistalliance.org
Why are you all so eager to see Hakeem leave, anyway? It doesn't make sense. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
I don't think its a question of when is it too long, but more like when does it begin to hurt? or when is enough - enough? DEANBRCURTIS, that was a low blow. ------------------
I'm sorry, watching Dream barely able to breathe, dropping passes, unable to jump or run and scoring 10 points a game is NOT fun! Watching Ewing run even SLOWER, and produce even LESS then Dream is not fun. And all the memories in the world doesn't change the fact that it is ugly to watch Dream play today. ------------------ If Megatron can become Galvatron, why can't Rocks2001 become RocksMillenium?
ZRB - I am not eager for Dream to leave; rather, I WANT Dream to play--with desire--make an effort to run with the team, set a decent pick, roll out and nail the jumper, crash the boards, go for a hook in the lane. Instead, Dream situates himself in the low post demanding the ball, he stands and watch other people grab boards, he's the last to straggle up the court... morever, according to reports, he's now skipped practice, he goes to the freakin press and says "i want what's best for the team (translation: a trade or a waive).. basically he issues a public ultimatum. In spite of all this, I still am not eager for Dream to leave.. I just see an inevitable conclusion--a positive ending--by giving Dream a fitting farewell game with Houston generosity and move on. We have a solid core of young talent that could really go places. If Dream wanted to contribute--by adjusting to the new style--his 15 points 5 rebounds would definitely be appreciated. Unfortunately that's not the case.. so don't let the door hit you on the way out. ------------------
No way I could have said it better...so I won't. Anyone that has paid attention knows that I have a large amount of respect for Hakeem and would probably never be *glad* to see him go.....but My first loyalty is to the team...Dream comes second to the team..always has to me. I was watching the Rox before he came..and I will be rooting for them long after he's gone. Lets just remember what was and will never be again.. ------------------ no sig here [This message has been edited by Rockets2K (edited January 18, 2001).]

I really don't think so... Ewing was superb in the Knicks - Heat series just last season and Dream still could be a real force. Honestly, Dream on an Eastern conference team...in a slowed down play off series...could still be a 20 -10 guy. ------------------
