When is Francis gonna take Head's minutes?

    I hope it is soon...

Luther lovers need to get the cobwebs out of their eyes. He is as one-dimensional as any other player in the league. He is too undersized to play SG and can't play PG. Every time the ball goes to him, the offensive flow stops. He his hesitant and scared to dribble the ball. He struggles passing the ball, too. He had some success playing in a slow-pased, half court offense during his first 2 years, but he just clearly doesn't have the ability to play within this dynamic offense. It doesn't suit his limited game.

He has scored 2 pts in 2 games and has been a defensive liability when on the court.

If Francis decides to play within the system, it is a no-brainer that he should be in the rotation over Head. Luther can't do anything about his weaknesses while Steve just needs to make the choice to want to play the game the right way.

Luther will have a role on this team. That role is to come in occasionally to spread the floor when other players are struggling to make shots. Even then, he should be seeing < 10 minutes per game to avoid costing us on the defensive end.

    Luther lovers, bring it on!

Luther at 6-3 is too short to play SG but Francis at 6-3 is tall enough to replace him as the backup SG? Makes perfect sense to me.

wasn't it Adelman who was most impressed with Luther? Francis isn't ready...and if he ever gets ready, its not Luther that needs to be worried.

Luther moves MUCH better without the ball. That's the key in Adelman's offense.

what the hell are you talking about... just because luther isnt forcing the issue and is getting points in the flow of the game doesnt mean anything... he was moving the ball... francis is going to dribble the air out of the rock like he usually does either way it goes this is a TEAM not a one man show... (unless u play like T-mac did tonight against the Jazz-offs)

I'm no Luther lover, but that's bull. Tonight, he showed the ability to dribble drive and get to the basket. Something he never displayed last year. He move better without the ball. He has been active in the passing lanes and "digging" for the ball against low post defenders.

I would not mind giving Francis the minutes that Head has been getting, but it certainly isn't because Head has played poorly. The reason that i would consider giving Francis those minutes is because (i) they are small minutes and even if Francis plays worse than head, it wold have low impact on our success in a given game; and (ii) it gives Steve the chance to work some chemistry and possibly take minutes from Alston.

In short, Francis has the potential to crack the top 8 in the rotation by displacing Alston, but Head does not. That's the only reason to give Francis the minutes instead of Head.

Head hasn't played poorly at all.

Give Steve a few of Rafer's minutes. I am ready to see what he can do. Some games you need a one-on-one player for a few minutes. Steve is an excellent rebounder too.

i definately think francis deserves minutes, but who's? I'm very impressed with Mike's ability to produce, and considering he's our 2nd string pg, francis now has to jump from 3rd string to 2nd string by taking minutes from our 1st string. Mike has been huge and I don't see his minutes going anywhere. I still think Alston should start because James, much like Scola and Bonzi, are more then capable to start but won't be utilized to their full potential with T-mac and Yao on the floor. Though Scola has looked very good with them, his dropoff won't be as significant as Chuck's because Chuck and Deke won't cut it offensively. The double teams on Yao and his soft touch, is everything Chuck could ask for. I'm tipsy and rambling, I did not anticipate a victory tonight. Our Bench is so refreshing.

You answered your own question. It's up to SF himself. When he decides to push the petal to the metal, he'll get in.

BTW, do we need yet another thread on this subject?

Luther ran when he played college ball. He did not run playing for JVG because JVG did not allow it, not JVG's game. Head can run and drive and dunk again under RA and may leap higher than SF now and certainly leaps higher than teardrop Rafer.
