If Sura's done for a long time, then we need Ward back ASAP!

Ward is downright terrible, but he's better than Strickland and Barrett. Does anyone has information on the time-table for Ward's return?

If Ward's not getting better, is Mark Jackson a possibility? Tim Hardaway? How about trading our future two first round picks + Taylor + Spoon for JKidd?

I was sort of thinking the same thing. Ward is as bad as they come, but Strickland makes Ward look like Jason Kidd out there.

If the Rockets don't make a deal for a PG, I don't see us having much of a choice than bringing Ward off the IL.

I'd look very hard at every PG prospect in the NBDL, CBA, overseas, etc. before I bring back Charlie Ward.

The guy is on the books for this season and next. There's no point in letting him sit on the bench while Strickland is out there.

I don't really think hes that bad. I think we should give him a chance.

Actually I'd also look very hard at all possible options before I let Rod Strickland start again.

What can we fetch with a second round draft pick around the league? I'm sure there is a PG on the end of some other team's bench who'd be a much better option for us than Ward, Strickland, and Barrett.

How ridiculous is it to have a old ass point guard who noone else in the NBA wanted even as a 3rd stringer starting for a playoff contender? I'd seriously consider giving Gaines time if he can demonstrate a semblance of a dribble drive and can rebound.

I was enamored with Steve Blake last season, but I doubt the Wizards will let him go. They want to keep all the Maryland Terapins on the roster.

Well, we have a day & a half before the trading deadline. I'm gonna wait & see if anything crops up.

To use a Bill Waltonism...."Excluding Sura because he is out.....With Strickland, Barret and Ward The Rockets have quite possibly the worst PG situation in the HISTORY of the NBA"

I'd just forget about point guards altogether and field shooting guards: Wesley, Barry, McGrady, Howard, Yao. Wesley can guard PGs, McGrady can defend the better of the opposing swingmen, and Barry gets the other.

I don't know why everybody is so worried about the point guard situation. The real point guard on this team is and will always be Tracy Mcgrady. Wesley and Barry can play the point guard role on this team as well as Sura did.

What we'll really miss from Sura is his timely rebounding. For that, well need to search for a rebounding 4. A trade for Jerome Williams or perhaps giving Weatherspoon more playing time can help.

The problem with TMac being the point guard is that every team is sicking their best defender on TMac which is further aggravated when he has the ball in his hands a long time. The dude has Rashard Lewis and Reggie Evans muscle up on him all night. TMac is great without the ball.

I would like to see what Charlie Ward can do as part of of the current team. He looked terrible at the start of the season, but so did everyone else. I think he could be a contributer as part of the guard rotation. Is he going to play this year?

Yes, T-Mac has playmaking ability, just like Lebron James does. However, the reason the Cavs took James off the point should also apply to T-Mac, that it does undermind his scoring ability.

Instead of having him to pass the ball to others to finish, sometimes he needs to be fed by others for an easy finish. Remember, TMac and Yao are our best scorers and finishers, and put the ball in TMac's hand all the time would undermind his finishing/scoring ability.

Just the very title of this thread gives me that "clammy, sweaty, rickety roller coaster drop, kick in the stomach" feeling.

    I know I know. :( :(

The only reason we are discussing this is because Sura got a kick in the back.

If we can't get a deal done I'd go

    1-Wesley
    2-Barry
    3-T-Mac

They can all 3 split time handling the ball, we can't afford for Rod or Barret to be the teams starter.
