The Rockets' sloppy play of late and TOTAL lack of urgency during an 0-3 road trip is a bit troubling. There seems to be a non-trivial correlation between Hakeem's absence and our suddenly stalled playoff hopes (big surprise). Here is something to ponder : if we end up with the exact same squad next year, minus Hakeem, are the Rockets a playoff team ?

My feeling - no, they will not be a playoff team. With the current lineup of talent, the Rockets MUST have a big man. This squad gives up way too many easy baskets (no shot blocking presence) and the lack of a strong post-up game leads to STREAKY tempo on the offensive end.

If you want the exact moment we started playing this bad then it would have to be when Steve was ejected in Sacramento. Since then, the Rockets have just been flat.

I would say the Phoenix game. We won some after that but with a win we would have been tied for 8th place in the West.
