What kind of things do you expect him to do? Not only after office but in his last days Most Presidents pardon alot of folx appoint a few judges. . .etc. . . . I'm just wondering what he will do on the way out I *know* Ken Lay gets a full pardon Rocket River
lift weights, take showers, watch cable, lift weights, write up appeals, lift weights. on second thought, do they have cable in leavenworth?
My thoughts as well. W is currently wiping his *ss with the constitution, so I can totally see W declaring martial law and appointing himself King. But if W does leave, he pardons, maybe proactively (ripping a play from his dday's playbook), himself, Cheney, Libby, and all other parties in the NSA spying crime and the Plamegate crime. Strange as it seems, I don't think W will pardon Lay; maybe he will commute the sentence.
He'll damn i didnt have enough time to invade north korea or china.but jed bush might fullfill his brothers lost dreams?... another bush in the white-house?.. now thats an frightning thought?
Bush will do the same thing after leaving office that he does now ~ hang out on his ranch in Crawford, Texas.
He will be put on the board of Halliburton, Bechtel and Carlyle. He will mainly just be mailed some checks, but will occasionally show up to tell old war stories about being Commander in Chief, tell a few jokes and backslap a bit. This was reported tobe his role in his previous "jobs".
This is the most plausibe (and seemingly what a lot of Presidents would do: remember, not alot of engineers, writers or accountants in the bunch, they've spent the bulk of their professional lives schmoozing and reading staffers' talking points). He might be a Conservative version of Clinton. Clinton is a Yale Law grad who commits perjury, Bush is a Harvard MBA who drills dry holes in the Permian freaking Basin. Clinton is all AIDS and Tsunami, Bush is probably all Clean/Cheap Energy (but on API or ExxonMobil's terms), Billy Graham lite (speeches at Megachurces or with Televangelists) or Freedom and Democracy Abroad (election monitoring, non-profit nation-building?). He could also be the richest, most powerul lobbyist ever. Or, as his career aptitude test probably advised, he may get back into sports ownership: Los Angeles still "needs" a pro-football team, as the global entertainment industry, world-championship Baseball and Basketball teams, and 100+ miles of beachfront have left Angelinos severely lacking in sources of recreation, economic activity and/or civic pride.
After Bush leaves office, I expect him to lay low on the ranch in Crawford for as long as possible. If he does any travelling, it will be within the United States, because after the International Court indicts him for war crimes, it will be difficult for him to travel outside of the United States.
He'll make sure he hits up all the corporate donors so he can have the biggest Presidential Library ever. I have a suspicion his library will more closely resemble something designed by Kim Jong-Il instead of what we normally see. It'll also be interesting to see who he names as the Presidential Librarian. My guess is a crony and my guess is he signs an Executive Order that greatly delays the release of documents.
Who's going to want to go to Crawford for a library? My guess is that there will be some push to merge his and his father's library together.
Are you kidding? With all the Oedipal issues going on there? He will most definitely want his own and it will be bigger than Clinton's and especially Dad's. Texas Tech or Baylor. If I were Tech, I'd let Baylor have it.
