As a Redskins fan, alot of us are hoping Texans cut Amobi and the Redskins pick him up.

Why does Wade feel as if Amobi isn't a good fit for the 3-4 defense? He's a smart guy (was accepted at Harvard) and played a DE in college, and then was willing to bulk up to become a NFL DT.

He's a good, young talent who could be had for cheap. Redskins believe we will land Cullen Jenkins (DT for GB this past year) but camp fodder is always good to weed out the players who will not try (cough cough, haynesworth, cough, cough)

Amobi is a waste of space that you can have for free. Don't like him in any defensive scheme.

He's not very good. Hardly gets a push and he's said a lot of things that has made me question his motivation for the game.

My take on Amobi is farewell, he seems like a REALLY good person though so I try not to be too harsh on him. But at best on a good day he's only an average player and in the end doesn't meet his standards.

Who knows...maybe he just needs a change of scenery.

Good rookie year, but has yet to develop at all. Can't hold his ground, let alone get a push off the line. Supposed to be a sack generator, but he's not explosive enough to burst through gaps. Nice guy but very questionable work ethic or desire.

Simply put, he hasn't done squat in years. He's smallish even for a 4-3 DT and can't/doesn't compensate for it with moves, technique, or quickness. Wade's system doesn't call for a space eater NT, and he still knew right off the bat that he couldn't use Okoye there.

He's the kind of guy you call up from the practice squad.

He's too short to be a 2 gap player in a 3-4. Regardless of how good or bad he is, his physical dimensions pretty much typecast him as an undertackle in a 4-3.

Okoye was a DT at Louisville and his listed weight has been the same in the pros as it was in college.

He's another 2-3M that could be going to something productive. After fat Al I suppose the Redskins will be happy with anyone that can play 3 downs.

Okoye salary will not prevent the Texans from landing Nnamdi Asomugha. if the Texans needs more money for Asomugha, Okoye will be set free.

He has sucked as a Texan and will not be missed. But knowing the Texans luck, he will end up in a probowl three years from now and will be listed as a probowler from Houston in your media guide.

Get in there with the ox!

I remember when he was drafted some were comparing him to Warren Sapp, lol at that epic fail.

I'm almost sure this is going to happen. He's still young, he still has all that athleticism, he showed that he has good NFL potential as a rookie. He'll go to a 4-3 team with a decent coaching staff, and he'll become a good NFL player. Amobi Okoye's suckage is due to failure by the development staff. He is not a draft failure.

Once he leaves the Texans he'll probably go god-mode.

    Maybe yes.Maybe no.

With proper coaching, Okoye could still suck.

One thing for sure is that Okoye is being overpaid. If he stays with the Texans,
it will with at a reduced rate.

No, he's most certainly a draft failure because it speaks to this regime's failure to accelerate the rebuilding process. If you take a 19-year old in the NFL draft, you have to figure... at least 2 years of "catching-up" just from a physical/mental standpoint. I mean, there are guys picked 2, 3 years after Amobi who are older than he is. There are guys picked *this* year that are roughly the same age, which amazes me.

He might've been a luxury in 2006, when the team was pure garbage and had absolutely nothing but time. But Kubiak actually turned a corner rather quickly that first year and I think they should have had a little more faith in their progress and started getting guys who could contribute sooner rather than later. I think this could and should have been looked at as a 2-3 year rebuild (and might've been had Schaub stayed healthy in '07 and '08) - with that in mind, how is a 19-year old going to push that along?

Having said that, there is a chance he's been poorly coached/developed and might very well land elsewhere and start to blossom. Again, the guy is 23 (right?)!

He'll go to the Titans and make the pro bowl.
