$500-600 for me. Last night, my dog got a hold of my nightguard I use for my grinding at night and it cost about between $500-$600 to get. I have been very careful to keep it out of reach ever since I got it last year but I guess I didn't close the container yesterday and bingo he got it. I was sooo mad. I am hoping the dentist will be lax with the prices. I wont tell him that the dog got to it after he specifically told me to keep it away from the dogs. lol Oh well, lesson learned! What's yours? Kids do not count! lol
A few years ago while backing out of my garage I wasnt paying attention and hit the side of the wall. The wall was fine but the front of the car was not. Cost like $500 to fix.
hired a contractor who was the husband of my g/f's coworker. $8,000 worth of crappy renovations and headaches. never bothered to look at his previous jobs. i wanted to go the cheap route and paid for it dearly. he wanted to nickel and dime me for everything. the original quote included work on a 2nd restroom, but i never let him touch it. needless to say, g/f and coworker no longer talk to each other.
Applying for need-based financial aid for my kids' education, I could have and should have moved some money around to accentuate my poverty. I did not and was left with a bill for $5k. Still eternally grateful to the Republic of France for giving me so much in covering the balance, but I probably could have gotten a free ride if I had played my cards right. Oh, and if I had been more conservative in my investment choices in my 401(k), maybe I wouldn't have lost half of it when the stock market tanked.
camping in a state park outside of the camping grounds could've been a max fine of over $3,000 , but was only fined 900
my first overdraft experience as a fresh 18 year old. $350 followed closely by the purchase of a Dreamcast a month after Playstation 2 came out. out $300
In early 2008 I was sitting on an IRA that was all in cash having just been transferred from a previous employer 401k. My father-in-law, a financial adviser, told me to leave it in cash as the market was...weird. I did not listen. 1 year later I was down 60% - five figures range.
Ditto. Mine sat empty for over a year. I've had a renter for a year now, but it's still a money pit with all the repairs I've had to do.
Except that the Dreamcast is still an awesome video game machine, with a pretty big selection of excellent games.
See, now I don't get this. I would think this would be a cash cow. For example, a friend of mine just leased his place for $2,600/mo. and said his current mortgage is only $1,300. I can't imagine him losing money on that.
