comfort food NOUN: Food that is simply prepared and associated with a sense of home or contentment. For me: Italian: Pizza or Spaghetti w/ meat sauce and Italian sausage New York Deli: Corned Beef Sandwich, Matzo Ball soup, Latkes Vanilla milk shake MMmmmmm......
First meal after I'm sick (be it stomach virus or brown bottle flu)--Taco Bell {yes, I know that's really strange for a self described culinary genius} Ultimate comfort food for me on a somewhat cool day: my homemade chicken soup Ultimate comfort food meal: (I don't get this much anymore...I'm getting too old and this goes straight to my gut) My own: Fried chicken Dark brown gravy mashed potatoes (but I'm happy with rice) black eyed peas mustard greens Jesus! why did I write that down? I'm starting to break into a sweat!

Maybe there's something to the spicy food? ... My own: Fried chicken Dark brown gravy mashed potatoes (but I'm happy with rice) black eyed peas mustard greens My wife's is her mom's southern fried chicken w/ rice, cream gravy green beans and rolls.
The Gumbo my wife and I make from scratch on cold winter days. This sunday should qualify as a "Gumbo Day".
a nice 12 oz filet mignon grilled to perfection some sauted jumbo prawns in some cream sauce grilled asparagus maybe some rosemary/garlic mash potatoes nice bottle of white wine mmmmmmmmmmm i cant wait till the spring...
Fast Food: I agree with Taco Bell. I ate there four to fives times a week in college...same goes for McDonald's. Mickey D's for lunch and TB for dinner. That was the pattern, and the reason I gained 50 pounds in college. Snack: Popcorn! I pop a bag almost every night. Homemade: Spaghetti. My mom used to always make it. Recently, it's been Starbucks Frappucino's. It's almost $4 for a frickin mixture of coffee & milk, and I can't stop buying it.
Ice cream, chocolate, and Oreos. The possible combinations are endless! Oh...I like making a good sandwich served with some mac n cheese.
Home made nachos - pinto beans on top of corn chips with cheddar cheese, sour cream, and salsa. Hawaiin Punch and Top Ramen is good too.
interesting perspective... i always thought of it as a runner's thing (almost every runner i know eats peanut butter by the gallon like me) but after reading your post i realize that almost every runner i know of is a vegetarian as well. perhaps its the lack of meat in our diets that makes our body scream for the fat, protein, and filling sustenance that PB provides!
Well, I'm a runner who doesn't eat peanut butter, and my eating habits could best be described as "unhealthy." Maybe that's why you would probably leave me in the dust.
heh. i don't think eating a whole jar of peanut butter at a single sitting more than once a week is that healthy either!
mmmm, comfort food... Patty melts Mac'n'cheese Chicken tenders Good quality hamburgers Cheese enchiladas Pepperoni Lover's Pizza Ice cream This chocolate-and-butter "stuff" that I wish I'd never learned how to make Chipotle burritos (comforting because they were a big part of my diet for so long; might still be except we don't have any in my town) Pancakes Belgian waffles Cheese omelets Chicken fried steak Did I mention patty melts, the ultimate food? now you see why Isabel is in so much trouble.
Lupe Tortillas limey beef fajitas The salsa at Hula Hut in Austin Late night Bell Mac N Cheese from the box Ramen noodles Goldfish crackers
Fajitas, pizza, or a big ole steak with potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, corn, and some hot french loaf bread. Yum...
