I noticed a pattern that people either love Pac's crazy songs (hit 'em up) or his deep quite songs (dear mama).. It seems like it's one or the other, nothing in between.. and I always hear Dear Mama mentioned as his top song..

I pretty much love all of his songs.. IMO he doesn't have a single bad song.. I can pretty much listen to any song by Pac at any given time.. it depends on the mood though; when angry --> hit 'em up.. when depressed --> shed so many tears .. when feelin' cool --> lil homies .. and so on.. but my favorite 2pac songs are the ones that aren't very well known.. in fact, they are the least known Pac songs.. among my favorites are changes, so many tears, troublesome 96, thugz mansion, lil homies, me against the world, and hell for a hustla (those are obviously very well known), but my 2 favorites are:

-Pain ("above the rim" sound track that was left out) ft. Stretch
    and
    -Starin' through my rear view

Pain has probably the best lyrics ever.. it's so deep and meaningful (unlike what we hear today.. seriously, lollipop?)... starin' through my rear view is just one of the greatest songs I've ever heard.. absolutely magnificent.. great beat, great lyrics, great everything, just an unbelievable song.. thing is, they're both not well known.. Pain is just an obscure song that was supposed to be in the movie but was left out for some reason. it features "Stretch", who produced several Pac songs, but never only rarely rapped (on a side note, I wish I could find some Stretch songs, the dude's voice is just badass, especially right at the start when he goes "years, and years, of that rough life") .. the other song, "starin' " for some reason is just never mentioned as one of Pac's greatest..

now, if I had to choose 1, it would be starin' through my rear view.. it has my favorite line in any rap song:

"keys to ignition, use at your discretion"

    what's your favorite? :)

Starin' Through My Rearview is also my favorite.

    Agree about that lyric too

"Keys to ignition / use at your discretion / roll with a 12 gauge pump for protection"

    how long have you got?

seriously, I could list songs for days - and picking one is almost impossible.

simply amazing how his songs transcend the years...its like he was still here sometimes - and yet its been 12 years since he passed.

    I Ain't Mad At Ya
    Nothin But a Gangsta Party
    Troublesome
    All About You
    Hail Mary

Eh...I kinda see the two sides as well. I find his diss songs have the best beats though...just that his lyrics...eh. But man, the beat. XD

    California Love
    Hit Em Up
    Troublesome
    You Can't See Me
    Only God Can Judge Me
    Changes
    Gangsta Party
    Brenda's Got a Baby
    Thugz Mansion (original)
Running-Dying to Live (the remix with him and Biggie released after his death)

    My favorite right now though?

Ghetto Gospel with Elton John. It doesn't get deeper then that with hip hop.

If I had to pick one it would be "So Many Tears" and I love the last verse:

Lord knows I.. tried, been a witness to homicide
Seen drivebys takin lives, little kids die
Wonder why as I walk by
Broken-hearted as I glance at the chalk line, gettin high
This ain't the life for me, I wanna change
But ain't no future right for me, I'm stuck in the game
    I'm trapped inside a maze
See this Tanqueray influenced me to gettin crazy
Disillusioned lately, I've been really wantin babies
so I could see a part of me that wasn't always shady
Don't trust my lady, cause she's a product of this poison
I'm hearin noises, think she *****in all my boys, can't take no more
I'm fallin to the floor; beggin for the Lord to let me in
to Heaven's door -- shed so many tears
