It seems like our D is just terrible. Every team seems to shoot over 50% against us lately. With JVG teams I can't recall giving up 50%+ shooting nights.
No need to start a new thread though when Yao is out, our D is expected to drop. We are too small, and if we don't use Deke, then nobody will be able to contest shots inside. No shot blockers either - Scola, Landry and Hayes aren't shot blockers.
Once they get past, we don't have any post presence to alter/turn away shots due to our size. Without Yao, there's a lack of congestion in the lane so Detroit players have free reign once they get a step on a defender. This is further compounded by the fact that we are weak at rebounding, so Detroit got a few second chances. Scola is not a shotblocker and Hayes is more of a charge-drawer. I would have preferred some sparse minutes for Mutumbo or the beastly duo of Scolandry for our front court.
No shot blocking at all so no one is scared to go to the rim. We signed deke just to please the fans apparently.
no emphasis on d by adelman. he just wanna play high octane offense kinda like the suns but with no balance on d. also if he never plays deke much we are just gonna be a subpar defense team for the rest of the season we lost our identity and i dont think we can win championship without tough and consistent D even if we dominate on offense we will see
Yeah, but we don't have our full healthy lineup. We have to have chemistry on defense also, and if we don't have a healthy lineup, we aren't going to be the same great defensive team we were last year and in years past. Also, Rick doesn't emphasize defense as much, that's also done some.
refusal to play deke. just play him for 5 damn minutes so he can throw some elbows around and intimidate the opponent.
Deke alone isn't going to change things. I still remember a play in the Lakers game when Deke went to help stop penetration and someone didn't rotate. The Lakers got a dunk and Deke looked around with a what the heck look. They need to make it a priority in practice.
just no D at all...unbelivable the adelman kings err rockets i guess. i know people think its enjoyable but this no defense shiat wont get us further than the kings or suns did if thats good enough then enjoy it i guess
who the heck is talking about tmac in this thread? we talking about defense man! cant blame a guy who missed half the season and is not known for defense for that one. rox have sucked at it recently and kept getting worse over time as JVG effect wore off
battier just missed rotatio non that defense too lol man the guy is just useless! wanna get wafer more minutes? trade or bench battier. we dont need him anyway in this new era of the "no D" rockets
