Usually it takes me 30 minutes to travel down Westheimer, from Sage to Fondren. Today it took me 1 hour to get from Sage to Fountain View! With no relief in sight, and the same situation on Richmond and every road in between, I said **** it and went to my parent's house in the NW suburbs (which only took 20 minutes to get to). No traffic reports, no nothing. What the hell happened out there?
My point was its not normal. And no one reported an accident or lane closures, but obviously something bad happened out there. I was wondering if anyone around here had details.
Well... on Westheimer near 610 the only entrance to 610 is past San Felipe, all the entrances have been closed up to that point, I realize you are going the other direction, but that could cause some serious back up from Westheimer to Sage... otherwise, I don't know.
I usually check http://www.houstontranstar.org/ for traffic info. They have real-time maps, road closures, accident alerts, etc...
Thanks Mrs. JB. Very cool site I just got back to my apartment. Apparently a lot of my friends got stuck and turned around and went back to work and waited it out until about 9pm. No one knows what happened though. My parents wanted me to catch the local news before I left, in case there was any report. What was the headline story on WB? News about a p*rn store right around the block from my apartment that was shut down for selling bongs. Both my parents looked at each other and then at me slowly, with a look of shock and disapproval in their eye. As if I had anything to do with that? God I miss Austin!
isn't asking what's with the traffic anywhere in houston kinda like asking what's with the sun rising in the east.
Funny there'd be a thread on this - I sat in the same traffic (took an hour to get from the Post Oak to Gessner). It would have been much longer, but I switched over to Westpark when I reached Hillcroft (Westpark moved faster, even though it was down to one lane!). Westheimer traffic has been bad all week (yeah, it's always bad, but this is ridiculous) - with no accidents, flashing trafffic signals, etc. to blame.
